GAD and Lexapro - any luck

I have recently been diagnosed with GAD. I otherwise have a good life, just crazy busy with a toddler. I had a sinus surgery and spiraled into severe anxiety. My phychiayrist put me on Lexapro, started at 5mg for 4 days and have been upping it to 20mg over the past 5 weeks. I take .5mg klonopin twice a day to help while meds kick in.

I am wondering if others have had success with Lexapro and when it kicked in for them? I do feel a little better but just kind of flat and not motivated. It is still hard to get get out bed and I don’t do well when I have to be alone. I was feeling pretty good at 3 weeks then had an argument with my husband over some business travel and that set me back -two panic attacks and lots of crying. I feel more even now but still very vulnerable to setbacks.

Does Lexapro take the full 8 weeks for you all?

Thanks Scaredy Cat for the reply and encouragement. I am working with a therapist weekly too so that helps. I just hope and pray everyday I get my motivation and smile back. It is almost like this whole experience has also brought out some underlying depression too. Or maybe I am just down because this journey has been very trying with lots of ups and downs.

I am blessed to have the best phychiatrist in the world, he checks on me every other day. I just completed week 5 on Lex and have increased to 20mg over the past weeks. Been on 20 for about a week and feel like I have a lot of apathy. Dr says once we turn down the anxiety circuit, as he calls it, we might go back down to 15mg so I don’t “flatten out” too much. Hoping to see some of my old motivation soon. Doesn’t help I picked up my toddlers cold though
