The doctor who proscribes the medication rose the dosage to 50 mg per day. I have always taken 25mg of zoloft per day for 4 years. Exception is for last year when I tried to get off . I don't know I feel like getting the higher dosage is wrong to me. shakehead

Why did he raise the dose? Have you been having struggles lately?

Yes, I am curious to know the reason as well. I am also curious to know why you feel that an increase may not be a good thing for you?

So I still have panic attacks and have been using the hospital hotline for mental illness. Anything I say can be reported to my therapist. She called me the next day after I told the nurse I was taking 25 mg per day. She wanted me to go to 50 mg. I have always avoided taking any type of medication unless I felt really bad. I always thought that taking alot or a few medications would impact me 40 and older.

Your therapist is probably hoping to manage your anxiety and lessen/eliminate your panic attacks with this increase. So this is something to at least consider.

This being said, it is completely your call, as it is your body and decision...so don't be afraid to make your wishes known.

Have you done all you can with therapy and self help to eliminate the attacks? If not, then you could certainly focus on trying every possible skill/tool in order to keep your dosage where is currently is...

...and keep an increase as part of the second string plan so to speak.
