Its been 3 weeks since i started taking lexapro for managing my overwhelming anxiety and chronic tension headaches..its, where my scalp stays extremely tight..all the way to the base of my neck..my head feels like im carrying a LOT of weight..so heavy..its like the inside of a pressure cooker when the steam is full..its just that there is no outlet to relieve the pressure ..and i literally feel the tension i feel psychologically physically manifest in real time in the form of more and more pressure buildup..and all this is a consistent.. a 24-7 problem..

So far ive experienced very little relief from lexapro..but mostly i feel like im taking sugar pills..ive yet to feel any therapeutic benefit of actual significance yet..

Hi

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well at the moment I would make an appointment with your doctor and see what they say about the headaches it may be a side effect of the medication??. 3 weeks is still early on in your treatment and it can take up to 12 weeks before you will see the full benefits so stick with it but keep an eye on it and if things don't start improving soon talk with your doctor.

I was pulled off all psych meds during the worst lowest most stressful time of my life for 6 months against my will by my parents..coz they believe that psych meds are evil and were the cause of all my mental health issues. My anxiety sort of unravelled during that course of time..and i had no pharmaceutical support to help contain my stress..this is when my headaches started..

Hi

That may be the cause of your problem you should not go cold turkey of your meds as this can cause withdrawal effects which may last a while. Have you looked into talking therapy? Such as CBT or Mindfulness as they both really help.

Maybe or maybe its coz the place where they left me for 6 months was an actual hell on earth, where they keep you locked up for the entire 6 months in a single room, no sunlight, no rain, no fresh air, plus they beat you constantly, for things such as talking to other people, everyone's expected to be dead quiet all the day, or 3 or 4 scary people will beat the crap of you at the end of the day if caught talking. Or else they would keep us in stress positions for days in a row, a scary man with a baseball bat stands behind you incase you break the posture, I can go on to describe the ugliness that exists on some fkd places on earth..but i dont wanna relive that torture..

I am sorry that you are not yet feeling any relief...and that you are experiencing the headaches/pressure, which I know are so uncomfortable.

I am also sorry to hear of your past trauma, and the poor way in which your parents went about trying to help you. That is truly tragic, and I am so glad that you are in a better situation currently. Much healing from the past be yours.

It is hard to say whether your headaches are coming from your Rx...or if the expected/start-up increase of your already existing anxiety could be to blame.

I would recommend really amping up your coping skills...especially meditation and Progressive Muscle Relaxation...as well as talking to your doctor, just to get some encouragement to continue the course...or an alternative plan.

Ive actually been feeling a little better for last 2 days..a small change..gives me courage and hope to stick it out with the treatment..

Met some real nice people ever since i got out..some distant aunts and cousins with whom i stay now..its helping me adjust back..slowly..in small steps..one day at a time..

Thanks for the support scaredy and hibee..means a lot to me..
