Hi, I'm Rich aka Older Guy. I have some good news to share. This may not sound like much to some, but for me it was a big deal. I needed athletic shoes, especially for walking (i've started doing that on an almost daily basis, which is a success in itself). Anyway, regarding shopping, I avoid it. It brings up a lot of anxiety - buying the right thing, worries about spending money, and just generally being out in the world.

This morning I got up and gave myself permission either way. No forcing myself to go. Just praying for help to Higher Power. I was able to go out and get myself a good pair of shoes! I feel great!

That is so awesome!!! I think on occasion we do have to allow things to just happen. I finally got some good shoes last year. I am diabetic so I got fitted for diabetic shoes and they don't look yucky like I thought that they would. They are real comfortable and I have good arch supports in them. So I know how it feels to accomplish something good for yourself. I am glad you accomplished that.

I hope you get a lot of good wear out of your new shoes and kudos to you for walking daily. I have been too but I didn't make it out today (this morning) and now it is real hot. So I hope to go in the evening when the sun goes down some.

Hi Rich.

That's great well done on getting out and achieving your goal and keep up with your walking I try and get out every day and find it really helpful.

I am so happy to read this! We knew that you could do this...and now since you stepped out of your comfort zone in faith, you know what you are capable of as well.

With your belief, and your coping skills, you are stronger than you even realize. Well done friend...and I hope that you enjoy your new shoes not only for their function...but also for what they represent...a big victory for yousmile

I'm hoping to set some goals like this after I get through my son leaving for college. I feel like a hermit this year! Congrats!

Great job Rich....

I get out and walk two laps around part of my neighborhood... I'm generally out at 4:30'ish in the morning... Everything is so peaceful and quiet.

Since you're on a roll - see if you can go out again this week.

Achieving goals, even ones that appear small to others, can really put you into a great frame of mind. It makes you feel like you've accomplished something, because you have!
