Hi all,
I had a drs appointment today and wow have things changed from last month. My dr was called out of my room because another covid patient came in complaining of chest pain. I asked her before she left how our area was looking. She said a few months ago there were virtually no covid diagnosis for us but now it has jumped to 15 patients per one hundred who come in and are tested. This is incredibly bad news. Makes my anxiety go through the roof.

Now I don't want this to be about masks vs those who refuse to wear masks and claim covid is fake news or fake disease. My dr was really upset with the amount of people who come in refusing to wear masks and then claim drs are lying about the cause of death naming covid as the reason.

Lastly my dr said she believes the disease will run rampant across the US. She claims a vaccine will not be available in time.

All this just makes me so anxious. I hate to think how many people will be stricken by this disease. My dr then went on to say people in the age group of 20-40 years old get covid socially then give it too their parents and grandparents who cannot fight off the disease.

I pray everyday this will end soon. All of this is just what is happening in my area.

Yes it’s anxious times for us all I think without doubt there will be a second wave of Covid 19 so we as citizens need to all work together and do what we can to help reduce the spread of this disease. Here in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 it’s now mandatory to wear face masks in shops and public transport and most people are following that advice.

Hopefully a vaccine will be found but there is no guarantee so we need to continue with the advice of washing hands regularly, maintaining social distancing and self isolating if we have symptoms.

With the way things are currently going, I fear that this time next year we will still be fighting the corona virus here in the United States.

In the US unfortunately we have people of two minds. Those who wear masks and those who refuse. I have multiple medical issues so I cannot afford to get covid. I would not survive it unless I had a mild case.

I stay inside away from people. I go out in my yard and walk in the sunshine yet somehow life has lost some of its grandeur.

Upon hearing a vaccine would not be available before covid was rampant across the US has taken considerable wind from my sails. Not just me but my friends feel the same way.

I listen to the youth of the US say they were not worried about covid one bit. They say yes they may get sick but will recover quickly. This is great news for them but terrible for the elderly and those with preexisting conditions.

Really we are in our seventh month of this pandemic. What a horrible way for us to live our lives. I know everyone here has their coping techniques and I do as well yet I still let all this get to me. I pray for better days ahead.

We are in a second wave of sorts. But we were much quicker in sorting it and understanding as a country the factual epidemiological process of covid 19.

It is rampant in the USA because of inept mgt of the seriousness of this virus. HT

We have had spikes in cases. Not as bad as some have though. But we are suppose to wear a mask (inside and out) or you could get a 500.00 fine if not. I heard there were a lot of cases due to a party of 45 people. What is wrong with people? It is like they don't even care. But maybe they have to get it in order to believe. Sad thing is that they pass it on to others.

I guess that the mask is the new normal. I would rather wear one than catch the virus. I think if we just try to go with the flow and realize that it is what it is it would be much easier to accept. It isn't a good thing. But we can't change it at this time. I think in time with the people that wear the masks and practice social distancing there will be a better scenario. It is too bad, and it is sad. It is also scary. But we are all in this together. I think we all agree we need to be careful. I wish you all a good day/night.

What I am about to write may seem harsh and shocking to some people. We live in the US, at least I do. Usually we are the first to help other nations and usually we work together to this end. I have NEVER seen a country as divided as we are now.

Our administration does NOT follow the medical experts with the results being a total breakdown in working together for a solution. World wide this pandemic has claimed over 577,000 deaths so far. This is over one half million people. I can hardly conceive of this number.

I love my country as I am sure other who live abroad also do. I am just so disappointed the US is not a leader in helping others nor working together with its own people.

The world needs to come together now to find a solution to this problem. I am so sick and tired of politics driving everything in the US as well as other countries. Why cant we all get along? People all over the world are dying and we fight over this or that. Republicans and Democrats both make me sick. To them its all about the party line--never caring about the people of this country. I am so sorry about the rant.

In the US, this situation is being addressed relatively well at the local level in SOME places. But quite badly in other places and terribly at the National level. As Oceanfisher points out, it has become politicized. Meanwhile people are dying.

I am a person of faith. I pray everyday we as a nation can come together and solve this horrible pandemic. I am hoping other nations will partner with us and we all can work together to conquer this disease. Then of course the politicians step in and ruin everything.

I had read a new study which showed the people of the US have an all time low belief that our politicians are doing a good job. I am talking numbers below thirty percent!!! I absolutely hate that our elected officials are more interested in making money for themselves than helping their fellow man. One day they will answer for their greed and corruption.

I have absolutely no problem with wearing a mask when I'm near others for the safety of others. If I didn't wear a mask and also didn't stay six feet from others, that would be inconsiderate and dangerous on my part. The last thing I want to do is make someone else sick. Why would I want to do that for?

Let's not let this thread get political or Hibee might have to lock it and it is a good thread.

I think many people are doing the right things. I think others will catch on. I just hope they don't wait too long. The thing with the mask is it not only protects us, it protects others if we are carriers. I guess there are people who can spread it without having it. More scary stuff. Sorry...

One day at a time is all we can do. It is all that is expected of us. I have to repeat that to myself many times a day. But it keeps the anxiety down some. Know I only have to get through this day or even just this moment.

There is much going on in this world which most people cannot see. I believe in a year or two most people will not believe how much things will change.

This is what I would like to say--"Do what is right because it is right". Treat your fellow neighbor with love and respect. Simple acts of kindness will forever change the world.

I often wonder about this world and the huge amount of people who have walked upon it. It is a natural fact sooner or later all things must end. Make sure of your situation before this happens.

We should definitely treat others the way we would like to be treated. Kindness is a quality that is motivated by deep love and empathy and something that would have a positive impact if we all cultivate it.

I wanted to say I think the forum has some pretty kind people and especially kind moderators. Marie your statement reflects how I feel also. I am very faith oriented and I know we cant get into this here. Treating everyone with kindness is the best way for us to live. I wish more people felt this way.

Hibee, what part of Scotland are you from. I visited there, Edinburgh, 2 years ago. Wanted to go to Glasgow, but didn't get a chance. It's lovely place.

I'm in NY, and the cases of Covid19 has drop. However, I saw on the news crowds of people gathering, etc. I believe a lot of people are just selfish and don't care unless something happens to them.

I guess all we can do is try and protect ourselves as much as possible. This is the new norm for now.
