bashful bladder

Does anyone else have this problem??? If someone is waiting for me to go to the bathroom I just can't...it's awful.  I once had to get a whole bus re-routed (18 hour journey) to a hospital becuase I couldn't pee on the bus toilet (I told the driver I had appendicitis) Boy was I unpopular eyes ....Anyway, we just moved premises at work and the new toilet is next to the kitchen and yesterday we had so many workmen in and extra staff...i couldn't pee for eight hours ad was in agony by the time i got home.  My tummy bloats out like I'm three months pregnant.  This is soo embarrasing, but if anyone will understand it's you guys....Am i a freak?? Does anyone know a cure or have a suggestion?

Or should I say

"pee like no-one's watching!!"

I have the same problem, so I typically plug my ears and pretend no one is around when I go pee at work or in public places.

Yep .. I've had "stage fright" for years.  Even as a young girl, I would not use the bathrooms at school or public facilities.  I can go all day without having to use the washroom.  It's like I trained my bladder to hold on.  It's probably why I bloat, too.  It is weird how our minds can take over.  I think as the years went on, it became a control issue for me.  Why not.... I have everything else to go along with it.  But it's not hard at all for me to not void for 12 hours or more. 

 

So see, you're not a freak .. I am .. **** .. I do this even in my own home !  where I can go whenever I want.  I like the idea of plugging my ears  ... that was a great tip.

 

We're all pretty much alike in so many ways.  That's why I love this place .. I'm not alone, for the first time in my life.

someone should have told you this by now but all you need to do is get a self use catheter and carry it with you with some sexual lubricant

lubricate the bottom half and push it in, you know where, it will push up thru the offending bladder muscle and you can empty your bladder, you can  even do it standing up like a man !

you may need to get a nurse to show you how at first

a bladder infection is eventually likely so having some antibiotics on hand will help

the bedwetting dose of imipramine could be tried as this sometimes calms the bladder this dose is quite small

I have these um...bladder problems too...could explain why im always dancing my way to the door at home. I have issues with public bathrooms in general. they make me nervous. When others are in there if I was in the process of going I tend to not leave till the bathroom empties or atleast slows down. Also if I go for an extended trip outta area #2 doesnt always happen. I think we all have a strange fear of unfamiliar bathrooms lol.

I've had the same thign for quite a few yrs...i was in china for 6 months and that was hell, going out with friends etc, I just couldnt pee..sometimes Id have to go outside ont eh street and hide. I know its horrible! I hate when ppl are waiting to get in as well..i try to find bathrooms where no one is waiting. difficult i know, or jsut wait. but what i do do, is coutn, especially if the floor or walls are tiled i count the squares, it seems to help me.

Thanks for the advice guys.  Thanks for fessing up too!!!! I sometimes feel very alone with this problem.  Harry, always full of good advice.  I will definately talk to my doc about trying that if I ever travel again.  I also count things ajhuk! Or I plan my day, anything to get my mind off things.  I plug my ears too....I also know all the bathrooms in my local shopping centre that play loud music or have lot's of deserted cubicles.  Puddin..I bloat too.  Michelle, I HAVE to use a laxative if I travel or it just doesn't happen AARGGHHH!!!!! 

I think Valium can help too if I get myself in a real state I can't even pee at home.  Thanks again guys...I feel a little less looney

Hi again,

 

I know about not being able to pee at home .. but it's usually due to me holding it so long that the muscle that helps you from peeing your pants gets a cramp or something.  I have to do some deep breathing and YES, I count the ciramic tiles on the wall trying to relax that muscle.  I sometimes try to see faces in the wood grain or in the pattern of the tiles .. not sure why I do that .. lol .. quirky I guess.

 

I have to confess too about #2 .. I'm usually in agony if I don't bring a box of laxatives with me.  But then I'm too embarrased to go still, so I'm still in agony because I HAVE to go and I can't bring myself to go.  Yes, I know, I need professional help .. lol .. in many many ways .. and I'm lucky to have a great therapist who looks forward to our "visits" because she thinks I'm so interesting.

I dont count I look for paterns or inconsistancies. I hate plain boring bathrooms as theres nothing to look for.

I have a witch, a small piglet and a tea kettle living in my tiles!!! LOL!! We are a strange bunch aren't we? I love that your doctor finds you interesting Puddin, mine finds me exasperating!!!

LOl I have major issues with bathroms in public places .....I will take toilet paper (own ) in purse and wrap it around bowl and /or sit on shoes lol but then I dont sit right on them lol
My doc is great as well and he is the same with me finds my thinking and OCD's interesting never ever called me nuts but I am wondering .................
I also count things and look at things in my home BR I constantly change things I have poems and pics and change shower curtain about every couple of months just for a change of scenery
I dont think we are nuts lol Inquistive and always needing to keep mind occupied
