Anyone tried or taking BUSPAR?

Doc gave me a script for buspar yesterday, I wanted to take my Prozac again, but she said this is much more gentle on the nervous system.  I have severe health anxiety, and I am probably a hypochondriac as well, I  feel extreme muscle tension, shooting pains, tingling, and twitches.  I barely function on a daily basis, these feelings are ruining my life, so I decided that its time to get back on meds.  Any thoughts on the Buspar?

Buspar was the first drug my general doc put me on. It didn't work for me at all. It immediately made me more anxious and panicky. I ended up seeing a pyschiatrist next and they put me on Paxil. She said that Buspar is for general anxiety disorder, not panic disorder. At the time I was having several panick attacks a day. I'm sure it works for some, but my experience was terrible.

I just called the pharmacy and had my buspar refilled. I didn't know if it was helping or not honestly. But my new (and now ex-pdoc) took me off of it and also took me off of zoloft real fast (needed more tapering time) so that I feel I want to give it another try as it is not addictive AND may help afterall. Remember that buspar needs time to get into your system good before it starts having any effect. It can take a number of weeks actually. It not like a benzo that works in a short time. Before stopping buspar about 6 weeks ago, I'd been on it for years with no problems.

Buspar has worked for me and what I liked about it was that it worked gradually and you didn't really notice until one day, you realized, hey,  I feel better! I have taken Buspar with Prozac for several years and I am still taking it with Effexor now. It has been a good combination.
