  I just found out that my Mother has broken her arm and shoulder today in a fall and my Dad is in no shape to take care of her and I'm worryed about her and my Dad as I can not help them as they live in the lower 48 and I'm in Alaska, Going to call them in the morning and my Sister that lives nearby to see what is going on and if there is anyway that I can help This has got to be the hardest v day of them all as my wife is gone house sitting and my Mother is hurting and I have little info on what is going on till tomorrow AHHHHHHHHHHHH

I understand..my father has really bad times with illness sometimes and I live a long way from him too..I sometimes think that our parents used to complain about us when we were teens but hey when they start getting older it somehow is payback lol - not that I mind but they are a worry nonetheless.
Tomorrow is another day...you will find out more info..so you can deal with whatever action you decide to take.
Worrying isn't gonna help anyone eh? So try and relax..get some sleep..
Write down all the questions you wanna ask your sister and/or parents before you phone them..that way you will be prepared and won't lose objectivity.
Keep us posted.

So sorry bout your mom believe me I know what it is like to worry thats all I did when Mom was alive and now its dad I worry about
Going downhill fast with alzheimers but still has a wicked sense of humor
My biggest fear is that he will fall on the ice and break hip most ppl in his health and condition dont make it or last too long after and it has not quite been a yr since mom went ........
Maree gives great advice keep all questions on hand and is your sis able to help out while you cannot

Really sorry to hear about this.  I think all the best advice has already been dispensed.  Try not to worry too much when you can't do anything to help.  Simple advice but useful for a reason.  Give your wife the biggest hug you can when she get's home.  Family is what keeps us together. xxNM

  She's doing fine I guess she fell down the stairs outside on some ice and there going to wait to opperate on her as she's on blood thinners but just talking to her you would never know that she was in any pain at all. Oh and I loved the way that my Dad tells me about it on the phone mess. Oh buy the way your Mother broke her arm and shoulder the other day (like it was no big deal lol)

  Thank's ya'll and I'll let you know how the opperation go's when the time comes

Glad to hear shes ok.  Your Dad probably was trying to protect you so you wouldn't worry.  Its hard when are parents get older and we live far away.  They know you love them and understand that you would be there if you could.  If you can send your Mom a bunch of flowers to her hospital room for when she comes out of the operation.

  Hay I think that's a great idea sending flowers libbyf and hopefull it's really good to hear from you and I hope that you are getting better now and email me on what's going on ( I got my email back on line now) can you belive that they made me a mod now lol
