Is this a symptom of Anxiety/Panic?

most ppl with ap do have fast heart beats when anxious or in a panic attack

I know I do at night but I do alot of breathing have a hot milk and think of nothing I actually use the sound of ceiling fan to compare to heart beat and it does slow down so this works for me am sure other things would work for you
I would still find out what is going on IS this the only symptom you have ......

No, this is definitely not the only symptom. Right now, my doctors think I either have Fibromyalgia, Lyme, or Autonomic Dysfunction. I still need more tests run. This is just my most recent symptom.

I’m 24, and have had no major health issues with the exception of kidney stones prior to the onset of these symptoms. On Thanksgiving Day, I started getting pain in my left shoulder and on the left side of my chest. The next day the pain continued and I also had shortness of breath, so I went to the ER where they did an EKG, a Chest X Ray and Blood Tests. All the tests were normal, and I was told it was probably Costochondritis.

The chest pain continued, and I saw a Cardiologist a few days later. He sent me for a CT Pulmonary Angiography (with contrast), and a Doppler Test on my legs to test for a blood clot, since I had been using birth control pills the month before. Both tests were normal. He also did an Echocardiogram, which he said was normal.

Since then, I have seen many doctors, including another Cardiologist, who has done an EKG, another Echocadiogram and a 24 Holter Monitor. He thinks I have Mitral Valve Prolapse (even though my Echos have never shown it). Basically, I don’t want to be diagnosed with something that I may not have.

Since Thanksgiving, I have had pain in the following areas. They are not all the time, and they can last anywhere from hours to weeks

Chest Pain

Shortness of Breath

Sternum Pain

Rib Pain and pain going into my back

Arm Pain (shooting pain down both arms)

Pain between Wrist and Elbows

Knee Pain

Pain in Shoulder Blades

Neck and Back Pain

Tingling in Hands and Feet

Burning sensation on left side of face, head, and upper back.

Tenderness under arms on both sides

Pulsing sensation in ribs

Stomach Pain

Headaches (different pattern than my usual headaches that I’ve had in the past)

Pain in Hips

Dizziness

Heart Palpitations

Vibrating sensation in left foot



I have had the following tests

EKG

2 Echocardiograms

Stress Test

24 Hour Holter Monitor

MRI of Brain (no contrast)

MRI of Cervical Spine (no contrast)

MRI of Thoracic Spine (no contrast)

CT Scan of Stomach (swallowed contrast)

EMG

EEG

Tests for Lupus and Lyme Disease

Another thing is recently I have been having these "episodes" where I feel really disassociated from what is going on around me, extreme shortness of breath, my heart beats really fast, and I feel like I’m going to pass out. It’s the scariest thing.

I honestly don’t know what is causing these episodes. Yesterday I was getting ready to go to a dinner and was getting my hair done when all of a sudden one of the episodes hit. Oddly enough, the hair spray that she was using seemed like it wasaggravating my symptoms. I have no idea if certain chemicals or sprays can make you feel like that, but I just noticed that I had to cover my mouth and nose when she was spraying my hair, or else it made my shortness of breath worse.

I get the same thing with the heart pounding.. like i will get up and move chair or something then suddenly my heart will pound like crazy until i try and control it.

But i have been put on some anxiety meds that are meant to help.
