What is wrong with some physciotrists

Today i got a phone call from my physciotrist saying that he will no longer see me unless i change my primary care doctor wich i have seen for 29 years i asked him if i could still see my dr if i changed he said no i am no longer permissed to see him if i change so i refused and now im out of luck because the fact my fam dr wont perscribe the meds im on suck as my ativans "sigh" what else can go wrong

if he's that inflexible, i say drop the psychiatrist and get another one. you've had your PCP for 29 years and your psychiatrist for a lot less than that probably. i don't approve of someone being that difficult. he may be forced to use his doctor due to insurance reasons or something, so maybe it's not his fault. but still.

I cat believe a psychiatrist, someone who is supposed to good at handling people, is making such demands in such an uncaring fashion! If he is tied by new laws/regs/insurance then its fair for him to say he cant treat you anymore. But you would have thought he'd have found a more sensitive way of doing it! If its not mandatory and its just his preference then he's well out of line!

Either way, I would ditch the psychiatrist and get a new one.

Can your family doc RX your meds til you find a new PDOC given the circumstances

Hi POtluck.  My name is Boomer2uall (Nick).  ALL doctors have swore an oath to preserve life and NOT TO ACK LIKE A GOD.  I think that this psychiatrist of yours is breaking that oath.  I would stay with your doctor that you have been seeing for 29 years, as he/she knows you better.

I would tell your doctor (the one you have been seeing for 29 years) what your psychiatrist told you and I would seek another psychiatrist.  I know this does not help your situation, but try not let the stress of this get the better of you.
