anybody? i have been diagnosed with anxiety. i had every single test to rule anything else out. does anybody feels good for days and then goes back to feel bad. especially the dizziness and numbness in the arms and legs. or feel like losing the vision? please tell me symptoms

Anxiety can do some funky things to your body chemistry. When you're in a panic state, the body's priority swings over to survival mode and all kinds of weird sensations can be experienced. I remember the muscles in my neck being incredibly tight, and whenever I'd turn my head, I would get sort of a "jolt" of electricity that made it feel for brief moment, I had lost conscience...kind of like the static on an AM station during a thunderstorm. I was probably a nerve being pinched.
You'll find all kinds of examples of strange symptoms on this board.
I was convinced that the pain in my gut I had in my gut was cancer, but after many tests the pain turned out to be colon spasms. The more I thought about an uncontrollable cancer inside me the more panic and I anxiety I had...and the more anxiety I had the more adrenaline would pour into my body...the more adrenaline I had in my body, the more I'd panic and think...on and on.

So you're not alone vdaloka. We may not have exactly the same symptoms, but our bodies can be very creative! : )

do you forget a lot too, can you concentrate? are you driving sometimes and feel that you can not focus on the road?

Hi Vdaloka, I find that my anxiety comes and goes as well.  Sometimes it's because I'm really anxious about something, or anticipating something and I go numb and start shaking and find it hard to breathe.  It is very annoying isn't it!!  Sometimes it just comes over me for no reason and i just have to try and stay calm and remember it will pass.  How long have you been feeling this way?  It really helps to find someone to talk to (this is a pretty good place to start BTW!) that you trust.  Are you on any medications for this, or just toughing it out?  We can all help with advice if you would like. :-)

Oh yeah...concentration can be a huge problem...as well as being forgetful. But pretty much anything you can imagine can be experienced by someone in the fight or flight stage.

The "why us" part is a big question isn't it. I'm quite convinced that a lot of it is genetic.

But some really good things can come from your suffering as well. The hardest lessons are some of the best. : )

this being going on for 3 months now. thanks God i have been feeling better lately, but sometimes it just comes back by itself and with no warning. my last symptom was palpitation which make me go to the emergency room once again. i was taking zoloft for a month, but i stop taking it because i dont want to depend on meds to treat the anxiety. i went natural, i am taking gaba, passion tea, sometimes valerian root before bed, and the last thing was something i found at GMC which is call SAM-e-200. i think is helping!!

i don't know if this will help you, but here is a list of the things i've experienced with anxiety:

awful headaches
muscle tension/aches
fatigue
poor memory
irritability
dizziness
derealization
digestive issues

theres probably more, but i can't think of them right now! if you aren't finding that your natural remedies are working as well as you'd like, going the medication route is really not bad. it certainly will not mean you'll have to depend on them. i used meds in conjunction with therapy to get me through the worst stages and on the road to recovery, then i made the decision to go off them after i felt i was well on my way to feeling better. anyways, just something to think about.

You have to decide which is worse sometimes. Feeling like you're losing your mind, or taking a pill everyday that helps you process life better... : )

The SSRI's do not create a dependency (like Coke, or amphetamines). They just help your brain behave like a healthier brain. That's not to say that there's not a nasty impact if you go off them suddenly (a very bad idea).

The main thing is that you need to reach a place there you can think rightly. Use the meds if necessary to get you there...THEN you can make wise decision about whether to stay on them, or trying something different.

I've always had anxiety. But it hit me really bad at around 35. I now take 200mgs of Zoloft and 2mgs Xanax before bed. Lot's of good things happening in my life right now that I don't want to mess up because of pride. Maybe I'll go off the Zoloft again sometime...but for now, I'm staying the course...

Well first of all...i've been mia from this forum for quite few months because I was doing well. Now I'm back because I'm starting to spazz again. GRRRRRR. So yes it does happen =/

Some of the symptoms I get are:

Dizziness

Lightheaded

disoriented

hot

sweaty

racing heart

fear of losing control/going crazy

etc.

Those are my main ones.

Well, to be honest, from what I've read and experienced, anxiety can cause or amplify almost any physical symptom. Some of the ones I experienced were:

panic
nausea
bloating
"odd" breathing
what I think are called "brain zaps"
social anxiety/mild agoraphobia
plain old negative thinking
pains in chest, abdomen
crazy bowel movements
inability to tolerate noise and temperature fluctuations in either direction
inability to concentrate
dizziness

Now and then I'd have a week or so where I would have no panic attacks, but generally I experienced them every day. Usually several times a day. Nausea and bloating were my panic attack symptoms, which is a little unusual. The other symptoms I listed occurred with less frequency, or I was simply too overwhelmed with nausea to notice them as much.

It's a strange condition to have, but it can be treated and you can get better.

try some self-help books and see a therapist, it helps alot. Ive had anxiety for years off and on but the last few months were the worst. I have been reading self-help books and they teach you ways to cope with it. I went from 120lbs to 97lbs in a matter of 2 weeks. i couldnt leave my room and I had to always have my son or my cats with me. Now Im back up to 110lbs and I can freely come and go out of the house without feeling anxious. When i do feel it coming, I just fill my mind with compassionate self-talk and beleive me it helps. I still have minor trouble with going far from home without my fiance but I can go tanning and to the grocery with no problem. I hope that I have been some help.

you know? i always try to tell myself that everything is alright, but the i statr thinking that i am going crazy because i am talking to myself so i stop. is very hard! but tell me where you get the books from?
