Well, hello everyone! This is my first post and I must say I'm glad I have found this forum.
I'm 34 years old and have recently started having similar symptoms that everyone has explained. Here's my story... it's a little long, so I'll try to be brief.
When I was 30 I had my right ovary removed due to a very large cyst. When I was 31 I had my left ovary removed due to an even larger cyst (and I suffered from severe endometriosis). When I woke up in the hospital after surgery I had my first panic attack ever. I was basically hyperventilating, shaking/tremors, & felt tingling all over. I was also starting to have my first hot flashes since I was forced into menopause. A few weeks later I began suffering from depression and began a long journey of doctors and medication.
When I was 32 I had a mental breakdown and wound up at a psychiatric hospital. I was diagnosed with Panic/Anxiety Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, and BiPolar Disorder. And then came the drugs... a lot of drugs and trying new meds. I felt like a guinea pig! I was taking a lot of other different meds as well, but stopped a lot of them due to adverse side effects (that is when the tremors in my head started).
I am currently taking Lithium (anti-psychotic), Effexor (anti-depressant), PremPro (hormone replacement therapy), Trazadone (as needed for sleep), and Klonopin (for anxiety).
On June 1st I was out with a friend at a bar and I kept falling. I fell about 4 times that night for no apparant reason. I fractured the bone in my foot & ankle. I chalked it up to the alcohol I was drinking (which wasn't a lot), but I now believe it's related to what I've been feeling.
In July I started getting very dizzy and lightheaded. It didn't happen all the time, and would usually happen if I turned my head quickly or stood up. It slowly started to get worse throughout the month and would happen anytime I would walk and turn a corner too. Then the shaking and tremors started again. I saw my doctor and she had me tested for a few things like Anemia and Thyroid issues. Everything came back fine.
When my symptoms got worse and started lasting all day, she sent me for more tests. I had an EEG and found out that I have abnormal brain function in my left temporal lobe of the brain. I had an MRI and found out I have volume loss in my right temporal lobe. She then directed me to a neurologist to have me checked for Temporal Lobe Seizure Disorder.
Unfortunately, the neurologist can't see me until the end of this month. I actually felt ok for the last week, until yesterday afternoon. The symptoms were a bit different this time. It happened the same way (standing, walking, turning my head) however this time it was more of a lightheaded feeling that came over me in a flash or wave. It only lasted a second or two and the tingle feeling ran through my entire body (especially noticed it in my tongue, which is weird). It's still going on right now as I type this.
I just got off the phone with my doctor and she called the neurologist and he's out for the next 2 weeks. She talked to another doctor and was recommended I take Lamictal. It's a medication that is used to treat BiPolar Disorder as well as Partial Seizures. Unfortunately, as many of you have mentioned before, the side effects are basically the same as what I'm feeling right now! So, we'll see how this works.
I'm really not sure if this is all anxiety related or not. To be honest, I haven't been anxious about anything these days (except for the fact that I don't know what's going on with my body). I did have a panic attack a few weeks ago for no apparant reason though.
After reading all of these blogs, I'm going to research a couple of ideas that others have posted...thank you! In the meantime, does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Is there anyone out there that may have similar problems (especially with the abnormal brain stuff).
THANKS and Take Care!
