Valium

Hey folks

For the sixth time i was forced by family off valium by my family and doctor.  I suffered thru many panic attachs like never so I Started taking it again with no ones knowledge and it has been workin.

Being the 6th time goiing off we no success is there anyone out there like me where thats all that works. I have gone to group and thearpy this time.

Since i have used 30m mlgrm for 30 years would i need a detox progrom.

Any input would be valauable.

I just read your other thread in which they took you straight from 30mg to six. Well, it's no wonder you're having problems. That's WAY too fast. What you're experiencing is not only A/P symptoms but also withdrawal. If my doctor told me to do this I'd walk out and my last words would be something like "malpractice". He's jeopardizing your heath and physical well-being with such a reckless "tapering" schedule.

Definitely get a second opinion, preferably by a physician with a medical degree that didn't come off a photocopier.

Please do seek a second opinion re your Valium issues.  I also do not think you are a candidate for a drug detox program, but instead a very slow weaning process to reduce your dosage to what you and your physician agree upon.

Hi Ken.  You know, I was on Valium for about 6 months and honestly, I found that they didn't do anything for me.  In fact, I asked to be put on Klonapin instead and still I don't feel anything.  I am not a doctor, but I don't think you need to go into a detox hospital.  Maybe just change from Valium to a different med in the same family.  However, I would be "straight up" with your doctor to get the "monkey off your back".  In any case, if you decide to stop taking it, I would recommend that you do it very slowly.

I agree w/ what everyone is saying above, but I don't understand why are they trying to force you off if it is working, especially if its been 30 yrs.? Debaser you're helping a lot of people and have a lot of good advice, keep it up, I took your advice and am going to try to see a psychologist Mon.

I appreciate the complement but hopefully you meant that you're seeing a psychiatrist, not a psychologist. A psychiatrist is an MD, of course, and they're the ones who specialize in medications.
