I am Neelie.  I am 41.  I found this website through a book on anxiety.  I am very new - as of this month I believe.  I am a new RN and am working in the OR.  I have had issues in the past with anxiety/depression.  I am someone who does not love change.  I like all my ducks in order so to speak.  I have had much anxiety with starting the new job/meeting people/ dealing with nasty Dr's....

I have found the website to be helpful and that I am not alone as far as having anxiety.

wow your really doing it tough at the moment, but rest assured it will get better, self assurance is a big help (i know it sounds easy to say this) but with support from the wonderful people here at HW you can get throught this. there are some great exercises to help through moments of panic and anxiety. but you've made a huge step already by talking about your problems.

I'm positive that with the right medication and time you will feel alot better, i'ts taken me 12 months of meds and talking through my problems to get to the point i'm at now, but in saying that everyone is different your time may be shorter, i'm not cured (far from it) but i do feel so much better, and joining the family here at HW is a big part of that. Hang in there, were all here for you..

hi everyone,

i'll try to give a fairly broad outline of my symptoms. i have suffered from depression for years but being bipolar, i managed to hide it remarkably well from everyone as i was more often in the manic stages where people believed me to be eccentric and extrovert, certainly not depressed. i had a period of self harm then 9 months ago suffered my first full on panic attack. it was terrifying. since then, the agoraphobia and anxiety have led to many awful symptoms that leave me frightened of dying and incapable of functioning normally. the chest pains scare me more than anything altho the tension in my head and neck and spacey feelings in my head are also a huge worry. i constantly think i have some life threatening illness...cancer, heart defect, blood clots, brain tumour. even my doctor has told me i would have to be the unluckiest person on the planet to suffer from all of the conditions i have diagnosed myself with. its really encouraging to read other peoples experiences and not feel so alone. x

Well here goes.

I'm 27 years old, married, have 2 cats, and lots of fish! Guppies LOL.

Until recently I would just take things in and that was it. I would just hide my feelings. That was bad though because now there is so much I don't know where to begin. I used to get sick because i wouldn't eat because of anxiety. I used to have a fear of storms, my life evovled around the weather channel. I wouldn't make any plans because there was a chance of severe storms. I have scince realized, there isn't a thing I can do about the weather! It's gonna do what its gonna do and thats that. I grew up with alot of alcoholism in my family. My biggest problem was with  my brother. He was so out of control with his drinking and didn't want to admit it. He has scince had treatment and has been sober for 4 1/2 years now. The problem with him is he put me through alot of pyhiscal and emotoinal abuse. I was scared silly! We have been working trough it. Its hard but it feels better talking to him about it rather than hidding from it. My dad and alot of his family abused alcohol. He has been sober for about 6 years now. He put my mom and us kids through alot of emotional stress and abuse. I think he was abusing alcohol due to his condition with spinal muscular atrophy. A degenerating muscle and nerve disease. He and my mom have adapted to life changes very well. I have a history of childhood sexual abuse. I'm now trying to work through that. I just feel that my life is such a mess and don't know where to begin. I'm a butcher by trade. Growing up I wanted to be a fireman.I had a chance about 7 years ago but passed it up due to my wifes feelings on it. I have scince realized that I can't let her feelings run mine. We are working on saving our marriage. I have the chance again to become a fireman in my hometown but my anxiety is somewhat holding me back. Just thinking about it I get kinda worked up about it. I could handle it pyhsically but I don't know about mentally. I'm trying to live life in the moment not tomarrow or yesterday, today. My wife and I wanted to start a family by 30. Financially we can't do it right now. Life is jsut so unprdictable. I have been a negative thinking person most of my life. When I think about something, I always look at the negative in it. It's hard but I'm doing my best to change that. Itfeels good to talk about what I'm thinking rather than just tucking it away and letting it go. I'm glad I found this site and I'm glad to be here. Reading some posts are as if I wrote them myself. I thought I was the only one that had the feelings I do. I will try not to ramble too much but it feels good to get these things out. I like the support and the positive energy at this site. Thanks to everyone's support and posts. I look forward to keep reading more threads.

This is how we know that we are not alone in the battles we face daily
I am a sober alcoholic and have been since 1979 .......I was lost and so afraid when my hubby was killed in car accident that same yr the day after he was killed my Dad quit drinking as well
AA was a great support system for me and I still do talk to my sponser occasionally........
I grew up having to raise my siblings and clean up the booze bottles and mess from the nightly drinking BEFORE I could go to school .........I was the mother more or less and it has caused alot of problems with me including the anxiety and panic.........

Please I really hope all of you shall stick around and become part of this very luving ,caring and supportive group of people we have here...........

No ppl dont know you in most cases PERSONALLY but I have many a friend and a lil sis and adopted daughter I have met on here and come to know love and respect with all I have........
Michelle( adopted daughter) has come to Ontario from stateside to visit Cait and I 2 times now and I know I would love to have her back ......

Many members have made plans and met up with one another it is that special bond that you's can share so openly and with no judgement

Kitt ( lil Sis) I sincerely hope being the traveler she is WILL make it here and soon........perhaps in the early Spring or summer next year.......we have talked on phone and we are very close just as posted............. like sisters...........

Hello and welcome to Healing Well.  You have shared your story and that is your first step, so please know that you have come to a place where there are caring people all around you.

Many others here do not have insurance and you may want to read through some of the threads and you will see some ideas to look into.

It is a shock to have your first baby and then start to cry............I remember as I felt like I had now done everything in my life and what was left for me.  I had no idea of what was going on but I read a book about the "after baby blues" so I just struggled through it.

Now days we have many women who have some major depression episodes after childbirth.  I am glad that the physicians and therapist have come to understand this disorder for what it is.

Please feel free to start a new topic and post your own thread about your fears and issues.

I did not go thru this and I am so sorry that you had to and them I cannot imagine the way you felt .........

I also cannot imagine the cost and not being able to pay for meds....can you get ahold of the company that makes them and explain your situation....this has been done successfully with other illnesses and the pharmacuetical companies have helped out as well would your doc have any sample pkgs for you

I am in Ontario,Canada where all our meds are paid for and health costs .........for specialists any treatments ect ........I am so saddened to hear when ppl dont have the insurance or coverage to get meds they truly do need .........

I hope you can find a way to get your meds and asap......

PLEASE know this is a great support system and the family here are all for each other

Hi, I am Jodie (Chowch to you guys!), I live in Kings Lynn, Norfolk UK and have had panic attacks for 7 years. Only recently did I confide in my family, and now I am on medication which helps and having CBT therapy which definitely helps. I am 30 years old, am married (5 years in April) and have a 5 year old son who has just started school. We have a 7 year old cat, tropical fish and my son has a hamster! Life is great with support and you people help immensely. I found this site on a Google and log in now as often as I can. I feel giving advice is as good a therapy as receiving it!

I can't talk to people about what's going on with me, because I fear that they will think I am crazy. People kept telling me that it was all in my head. I just don't worry about mentioning it to anyone anymore, even my husband. I will just talk to people on here.
