Could this relief be from Klonopin?

As some of you may or may not know, I started taking Klonopin November 1st.  I take .50 mg 2 times daily, once in the morning, and once at bed, spaced 12 hours apart.  Anyway, before the Klonopin, I had mild chest discomfort ALL DAY, EVERY DAY.  Now, since the day after taking my 1st Klonopin, that pain is GONE.  Could the Klonopin have anything to do with that discomfort/pain vanishing? I had the feeling in my chest for about 6 plus months, and it was daily, all day, everyday.  And, like I said, now, since the Klonopin, knock on wood...GONE... ... Just looking for peoples thoughts on if the Klonopin could've taken that feeling away for me.  All thoughts appriciated! And, FYI, my stress levels are no less now than they have been.  In fact, today was a horrible day.  I quit smoking like 7 months ago, and I actually had a cigarette today...1st one since I quit.  I am a bit upset with myself, but it was one slip, and I don't have the urge to go back.  I am just making the point that my stress levels are the same. YES it very well could be the Klonies helping you with the chest pains .............I am so glad that they are finally gone ..........

AS for the cig slip .........dont beat self up hun it happens to the best of us and yes it does show your stree levels are up but they to should subside more daily........I truly hope

Thanks a lot Lyn! I am happy to be on the Klonopin, as I am truly starting to be me again! And yes, lack of chest pain/discomfort...heck yes! I am not too angry about the cig slip. I don't crave anymore now, so that is good, ya know? My pdoc wants to put me on Effexor XR on the 15th, after weaning off the Lexapro, I gotta say, I am doing pretty thourough research, and the Effexor is freaking me out some. UGH. This stinks! ANyway, thanks for your answer! Gotta say, no panic attacks since I started the Klonopin either. I was having them everynight, but not no more! KNOCK WOOD! LOL.

I am new and was reading your post.
CONGRATS on quit smoking ! (It will be 3 months for me.)
I have been on effexor for 12 yrs. I was one of the first to try it. It saved my life as far as the depression goes.
What are your concerns with it?
Just wondering.

Yeah, I never really had chest pain I don't think (or at least not all that often), but I did usually have what I thought was a lot of tightness and congestion prior to going on Klonopin. Not anymore. I think it's safe to assume anxiety was causing that for me, anyway.

Hey there debaser...thanks for the reply. Nice to see you around! Anyway, I guess pain is the wrong word, it was definately more of a tightness for sure. And, since starting the Klonopin, no more. So, I was linking the two. Dunno if it has anything to do with it. panic queen...hello, and WELCOME to healingwell! Thank you for the congrats on quitting smoking...it was tough, and I am struggling a bit now...parts of me wants to go back, eventhough I know it's stupid. But, I quit cold turkey all those months ago, and I plan on staying away from it. Quitting was hard work! LOL. And, congrats to you as well!! Anyway, I am afraid of the Effexor just because I am afraid of all drugs. I have been researching Effexor, and I haven't heard great things about it...which you will find with all drugs, as all people are different. I heard something about it possibly raising blood pressure. My blood pressure isn't super high now, but it is borderline, and having it go any higher is a great fear for me. I am scared of the sexual side effects, along with weight gain. I am scared of the whole thing I guess. Is Effexor used for anxiety as well as depression? Ugh, this can be so frustrating, ya know what I mean? I'd love to talk to you more about this, and I appriciate you taking the time to reply to my post. Again, WELCOME TO HEALINGWELL!

I'm glad to hear the Klonopin is working quickly for you.  I love my Klonopin.

I've been on Effexor for about 3-4 years now.  I think it's time for me to change.  I take 300mg a day and still feel depressed.  As far as side effects, I didn't notice any sexaul change at first but over the years, the drive isn't really there.  Gaining weight I haven't noticed at all.  I wish you luck.

Many have good results from this med though
Would your doc let you stay on it if you explained how much better you are doing snd just not from the Klonies but from the Lexapro too??

Or perhaps give you a longer time before he swiches you ??

Hi guys...thanks for the responses! I do gotta say, I don't know what to do. Since taking the Lexapro from 20 mg to 10 mg, I have noticed depression. I never really noticed it ever before in my life. I felt it sometimes, but it was never a bit deal. Now though, in the past couple days, I have been crying a lot, for NO REASON at all. And, I am just down, with no motivation. I am doing great with lack of anxiety, and most of all, lack of panic attacks, which is AMAZING, but the depression is worse than ever before, and I am not happy about it at all. I am ready to just go back to 20 mg of Lexapro. My biggest complaint was that it wasn't helping my panic attacks, but now I have something that is helping my panic attacks. So, the Lexapro should be good for me still, wouldn't you think? So, should I fight to keep Lexapro at 20 mg, or should I just try the Effexor? I have researched Effexor, and I am still feeling a little unsure of it. Is it going to help with anxiety as well as depression? I am going back to researching. My next appointment with my pdoc is November 15th. I have to make a decision by then. Ugh. Thanks for the help guys...I love that I can come here for help! (((((HUGS))))) And, thanks Lyn for noticing my upbeat posts...it's because I am NOT going to let this tear me apart like it once did. I love life, and wanna live it!

I understand the being "afraid of medications". I read all of the effects of the meds before I started.
I read everything before I take it.
For me it was my last hopefor something to help me. I thought what did I have to loose.
I felt like I already had lost my mind. lol I was so very depressed.
Since then, they have come out with the time realease and it's even better.
Everyone reacts so differently to medication, try and keep that in mind.
As far as the effexor goes for me, my blood pressure has been great, no changes what so ever.
I have gained weight (lots). I get down on myself about it. My husband said he would rather have me being myself again, than so very thin and depressed.
So I just take it in stride. I could have worse things to deal with than my weight, and panic attacks.
I hope that you will be comfortable with your choice.
You can at least give it a try so see if it will help you.

NO probs swetie

I would think the 20 mgs would be enough with the Klonies, so IF I were you as I posted I think above I would ask to stay on the lexapro 20 mgs and explain why ........DEPRESSION is getting a bad grip on you BUT let him think or know it was prior to the thoughts of switching to effexor you just didnt want to talk about it
Tell him with th "K" you are more apt to do things and want to participate in more of life yet this depression at thinking about having to start all over again on a new AD is bothering you and making you afraid and depressed..........
Make sure you point out the Klonies are helping you out a great deal

Hey Panic Queen. It was good to hear from you. I love hearing from people who are on the same medications as me and things like that. Eventhough everyone reacts differetnly, it is still good to hear what is going on...ya know? Thank you for responding to my post. My pdoc does want to put me on the time released pill. What other meds are you on, if you don't mind me asking. The reason I ask is because I see you have panic attacks as well. I also suffer with panic attacks. I am on Klonopin right now for those, and it seems to be doing pretty darn great. Again, thanks for the reply! Wishing you all the best!
