I've suffered with anxiety and panic attacks for a couple of years now. I have tried recently to stop going to anxiety sites thinking that maybe it was exacerbating the problem. I have just been diagnosed with a Thyroid disorder (Hashimoto's which is auto-immune) and some of my symptoms could be related to that. I started taking meds two weeks ago and I know it can take some time for that to help.
On Saturday my 12 yo son was pitching in a Little League game and got hit in the head by a line drive. I was not at the game and had to travel 45 minutes to the hospital. I could tell during phone calls with my husband that he was going to be all right. I felt like I was pretty calm about the whole thing after the initial "freak out". However when I walked into the hospital my heart rate went crazy, my skin got red, and I felt like I was going to pass out. This continued off and on the whole hour I was there. I really thought that perhaps I was having a heart attack.
Anyone else have these kinds of symptoms even when you think that you're NOT anxious? I feel like I should get my heart checked out. I did have a complete cardiac workup, including a cath, in March of 2006. The cardiologist said it was anxiety.
I'm due to become a grandmother in a few days (at the tender age of 44!) and my son wants me to babysit 2 1/2 days a week. I also homeschool my 4 other children (12, 10, 8, 7). I want to be able to do this, but I feel overwhelmed by health anxiety. Don't know if I need to have more health tests, especially cardiac.
Help,
Cindy
