Starting Effexor XR tomorrow...

So, today with my pdoc, we decided NOT to take anymore Lexapro, like I normally would tonight.  In the morning, I am to start the Effexor XR 37.5 mg, and do that for 7 days...then after that go to 75 mg dose for another 7 days...then I go back and tell her how I am feeling. I told her I am feeling really comfortable on Klonopin, and she is happy with that. I am nervous for the Effexor, but I am going to be OK.  She told me different things that I might be able to expect while first starting it, and I am prepared.  At leasst I am starting it on a weekend, so John will be here with me, should I get overwhelmed with it. I will keep you guys updated, especially you,  Laurel. Hugs to all.

You will do fine on it.  Just wanted to let you know that when I was taking Effexor XR, it made me feel hot and with activity, I would sweat more than normal...but that is a side effect of Effexor.  I loved it, it did wonders for me, but it quit working after years of taking it.  I don't recall any major side effects when I started taking it...and if I had them, I am certain I would have remembered!

Hey there Sylk...thanks for your thoughts. I literally just swallowed my 1st pill now. So, my journey on Effexor XR has OFFICIALLY begun! I will keep everyone updated!

You go girl and I am right here for you.  I see my Pdoc today and I am scared to death as I don't have a clue to know what I need as it seems to be such a crap shoot if you hit on the right med.

I have read a lot of good things about Effexor. :-)

Thank you guys for the support! Good luck with your pdoc today Kitt...all will go well, I am sure. I know I only just took the med a few hours ago, but I am not feeling anything bad so far. I am confident all will go well, though I will keep you guys updated! Again, thanks for the support!

I took my 2nd pill today...I have to say I am feeling a bit more tired than normal...coincedance...(sp) or Effexor...not sure which. I haven't had any other feeling good or bad so far...which is fine with me, cuz I shouldn't really be feeling the good yet, and no bad is good news for me! I will always keep you updated...for sure!!! Tammy

You will feel a little tired for the first few weeks thats normal but it will pass..

Thanks Liquid for your input. Yea, I am tired, but so far, (KNOCK ON WOOD) that seems to be my only issue.!!!! Like always, I will keep everyone posted! Thanks all for the constant support!

Just a little update for anyone who is keeping track... I have been on Effexor now for a few days. I am feeling more tired than usual, which I already said, and I have less of an appetite. With the Lexapro, I had a larger than normal appetite, and gained some unwanted weight. With Effexor, I find that my appetite is a little less than "normal' and, believe me guys, I am NOT complaining! LOL. Anyway, SO FAR, SO GOOD! Just wanted everyone to know!

Way to go Tammy, allow yourself to rest if you are feeling tired.  That will wear off once your body adjusts to the med.

Glad your not having any other side effects.

I'm glad to hear your side effects are minimal so far Tammy! I will be starting my Effexor on Dec. 2nd---I decided we have thanksgiving this week, next week a wedding reception, school functions----that I will start on Dec. 2nd---a sunday!

Thanks for the support guys...and Lyn, you took the words right out of my mouth, I too was going to tell Laurel to keep us posted when she starts. Don't be nervous Laurel, really. You will be fine hun. I can't say I am having any positive effects, but I realize that takes time, and it is still early, and I am still on the 37.5 mg dose for the next 2 days, so I am being patient. And, thanking God for my Klonopin, cuz I know that is helping me through! Thanks guys for the constant support!

Tammy,

Was just going through the posts and wondering how you were doing on the Effexor.  I think you upped your dose to 75 mg now, correct?  You haven't posted on how you were doing with it since the 20th and I am hoping you are still doing good on it...let us know!
