I got well!!!!

Hi everyone. I've only posted a few times but I just wanted to share my experience. about six months ago I was hit with severe anxiety that led to a deep depression. I was put on Neurotin, xanax and sleeping pills. I am diabetic for 46 yrs, and I was developing an eating disorder. I was afraid to eat because the sugar would go high just from the anxiety and all the hormones being released from that. I lost 20 lbs. and didn't need to. I was really a mess. My mind would not shut off and I could feel that lousy anxiety creep through my whole body. I was so depressed I thought of suicide every day, although I would not have done anything, but you get the picture. Doctor tried Lexapro but that just made me sleep and have more depression.

Well to make a long story short, after many prayers the doctor added the drug Zyprexa, just 2.5 mg a day and I weaned off the Lexapro. Zyprexa is an anti psychotic drug. Had I known that in the beginning, I would have never taken it. But I was so desperate, I would have taken anything. Within a week, I could see myself getting better and the following week I was like my old self. I mean my personality came back food tasted wonderful and I gained 11 lbs in one month. Everyone couldn't believe the change. I am still on the Zyprexa, and neurotin, but I don't need the Xanax anymore because I virtually have NO anxiety. I thank God every day.

I would like to know if anyone has had such a complete turnaround in such a short time. I guess my anxiety was what they call situational, but I still can't get over how I got well as fast as I got sick. Whatever the reason, it's like God reached down and gave me an smack in the head and said snap out of it. I'm sure I will have to be on meds for a while, but I still think the whole thing is a miracle. Thanks for listening. Mernie

Me too! The antipsychotic Seroquel did it for me. What a life save. Unfortunately it isn't helpinng me put weight back on like it does to others. May be that I need to up the dose? When I first started taking it during my, about to commit suicide episode 2 years ago, it took it away completely within a week. Felt relief in 1 hour. Now I need to up the dose again because it is coming back and I had dropped the dosing without telling the Dr. Big no-no. So yep I know they really do help. Congrats on feeling better. I too was having an eating disorder for similar reasons. Luv
