A day without a zanax

Has anyone experienced this? I had been taking one 0.5mg xanax just at night to help me sleep. I started taking them 2 to 3 times a day about 5 or 6 weeks ago. The stress and anxiety at work and worrying about the crohn's disease has really got to me. I started taking them just to help me get through the day at work.

about 10 days ago I had an appointment with a pdoc and he prescribed Prozac for social anxiety. I also worry about every little thing that comes up.
Financial, health, insurance, work, you name it. I am also trying to quit gambling. So I don't have that escape anymore.

I have been taking 1 20mg Prozac a day since in addition to the xanex. The past couple of days I have been feeling more anxious that normal even though I have been taking the zanex. Is anxiety a side affect of taking Prozac?

Also, I didn't take any zanax today just to try and cut back a little. I actually feel like I am hung over and and not quite together. Also I am real anxious.

Many of the Ad's will cause some anxiety before they kick in, it is a side effect.  Hang on and we will hope for the best for you.

Is xanax better than lorezepam? I experience anxiety closer to bedtime and lorazepam has been helping me calm down, but due to a bad dream, my PCP put me on xanax, but I wonder if it's too strong.

I am schedule to start seeing a psychiatrist on April 22nd, but untill then xanax is the only psyche med I'm on. Dx:insomonia, anxiety

I have taken only the lorazapam and it does help but for me I found memory loss was an issue
I do hope you will find something to calm you
I think you prolly need to take the xanax even though you really dont want to until the prozac kicks in totally .......Just my opinon

I agree with Lyn and Kitt,even sometimes with the SRI's before they start to work they tend to cause more anxiety.But one they kick in all the way you feel a little better.I also agree that you probably need to keep taking the xanax until the prozac gets into your system.To take away any anxiety that the prozac may be causing right now. The xanax usually relax me and i dont have any problems on it.I took the Ativan for a short period of time and it made me feel irretable and tired.It just depends on your system we all respond different. Thanks for all of your responses. Yeah it's only been a little less than two weeks on the Prozac. I started reading about it some more and I found that it takes 5 or 6 weeks to really feel it. I was feeling more anxious that usual for several days so I guess that is just my body getting used to the new meds. I did and will keep taking the xanax until the prozac gets to working.
