NO matter how small the step you take is no matter how many you take .
YOU are getting somewhere and
YOU are still fighting this DD
Lets all for the sake of commanality call them "POKER CHIPS"

Gather all your Poker Chips and know you have made efforts winnings and yes you will lose a couple here and there BUT the point is you are still in the GAME and FIGHT

We are supporting one another caring and sharing for all to get some inspiration.........
Please do not ever count yourself outta the Game ........( FIGHT)

"One Small Step ......any step.......any conquest or success
.......Can Lead to greater steps and perhaps bigger ones
In the end you still come out the winner............. as we all are .........

Take care all Family and KNOW we will fight all the way TOGETHER............

Doing my CBT and loving it
Started " no smoking " meds today..will be smoke free in 2 weeks for sure.....THIS is my main goal so please all put your prayers together for me and some strength as I have smoked for over 40 yrs .....

IT WAS MY DECISION >>>>>>MY LIFE CHOICE............I am soooo looking forward to NOT smelling like a tobacco farm roflmbo............ok I use deodorant all ........I DO

Ok Big Sis, you are off to a great start and I have heard good things about that med too.

Pretty soon you will need a poker shed to keep your chips in.

I have not cried for over a week until last nigh, but I quit and gave myself the "stinkin thinkin" lecture 101 and took my self downstairs and spent the evening with my hubby.

We are expecting a storm with ice and snow and I am smiling as I know that spring will come, you just have to wait for the good things in life and not whine about a little storm.

Every little chip counts as long as they are not Dorrito Chips.............lol

My sister in North Dakota used it and she did excellent. Did it in January as her daughter is getting married and she wanted to be smoke free by the time of the big wedding.
It works so you are going to win this hand.
Love your poker chip idea................I am sure we will have players. Everyone wants to be a winner.

Lyn, getting all my fingers and toes flexed and ready for crossing for you - I really hope this med works for you, I know you have the willpower to fight anything..with a mac truck!!!

Pop's the lid off her pringles...yesterday I made it all the way to class (on mental illness no less) and I didn't have any anti-anxiety meds in my bag..and I only had a baby anxiety whimper...I am so excited. I'm not taking any meds with me again today.

Uh -oh we're probably not supposed to eat our chips are we?

Kitt, I'm not so good at poker, but I can play go fish...and snap..but I think that might just crush the chips no?!

Kitt,   I'm proud of you for stopping the crying and deciding to spend time with your husband.  But remember that crying can be a therapuetic release (as smart as you are, I'm sure you already know this - LOL), so don't feel bad if you do cry.  By the way, how is your husband doing these days?  When you get a chance let us know.   Meg,   I'm also proud of you for being able to go to class with no meds - congrats to you!!  I hope today (or has it already gone by for you - this big time difference is confusing me - LOL) will be just as successful.   As small as it is, my little success was doing some sewing yesterday.  I've been so depressed that sewing or doing anything has been the furthest thing from my mind.  I just haven't been able to do it.  So I'm proud of myself for having done that - it felt good too because I love to sew and it really discourages me when I can't muster up the energy to do something I love.   Take care all and luvs, Wen

Ha ha a mack tuck I am not sure about but I did it with the booze and I will DO IT with this
I have already started the med and I am soooo bloody happy..only side efect is constipation ( would love that have D with my crohns ) and nausea well nothing new with that so on I go

Hi Guys,
I did post somewhere we are in a holding pattern, the test was still above normal but down a little after the antibiotics so we retest in May.
I get a chip for learning to just quit stewing and live life like normal.....I have turned this one over to God and I will take it one step at a time so I get poker chips and Meg will bloat up from all the salt on those Dorito's.
Meg......Yahoooooooooooo, you went to class and no meds. That calls for the economy bag of chips with salsa sauce too. I love to learn new things. How great for you, but hey don't lose the soup fairy.

How many chips do I get for not coming straight home and going to my comfort zone of bed???????? Just joking. I'm getting up soooo early these days I usually do come straight home and just lay on the couch.
My baby step today is going to a family event in a few hours. I have been avoiding these for the past several months and this is an important birthday and I am making myself go. I feel so out of place with my family these days and "inadequate" somehow. I just don't seem to have anything in common with any person any more and I have been avoiding going to family things cause it just makes my self-esteem deflate even more.
I am keeping a "positive thoughts" journal now. Each morning I read one of the positive affirmations in it to start the day. The power of positive thinking.

Ocean, welcome to the game!! I think you get mny chips for the no so small feat of going to a family event (major cringe!!)..I'll even share my pringles too ( I have tasty cheese and onion - yum)

 

Lyn- I hear if you eat diet chips they can cause "anal leakage"..just a thought (a gross thought, yes!!)

 

 

Kitt- I'd cash in the lot for good news for your husband x

 

Wen, dearheart, put down those needles and pick up the cards/pringles/dorito's (but be warned that salsa is deadly!! lol)

Kitt,   Yes, on weekdays I get up early as I need to get the kids off to school.  So once they have left (by 7:00am Eastern time), I get on the 'puter and start going through the threads.  It's quiet here during that time, so it's easier for me to do it then.  On weekends, I sleep in and don't get on here until much later than normal.  I'm glad that your husband is doing okay at the moment and will keep my toes, fingers and eyes crossed and say some prayers that the test in May comes out okay for him.  Make sure to let us know what the results are; remember that we care about you and Toby.  Thanks for letting us know how Toby is doing.   Meg,   I LOVE salsa and chips, time for me to earn them - isn't it.  LOL  I make a mean salsa (4 alarm salsa - lol) and need to make some soon, haven't made any in awhile.  And ewwww, anal leakage - that's gross.  I certainly won't be eating any diet chips - lol.   Ocean,   You most certainly deserve a chip for going to the family event.  I hope it goes well for you and remember that you are NOT inadequate in any way.  Having nothing in common with your family doesn't mean anything about being inadequate and I bet there is something you have in common with at least one person - maybe a hobby, maybe something you do at work, etc.    That's a great idea about journaling and looking at the positive affirmations every day, great way to start each day.  I think I will also start do the same thing.   Lyn,   I think you deserve a big pile of chips for quitting smoking - that is a HUGE accomplishment and I'm in your corner cheering you on.  Here's to a smoke-free life; you'll be so happy that you did this.   Luv and (((((hugs))))) to all, Wen

Ack I never liked going to family functions either mine was always comparing their " newest BIG purchase"...never mind saying it left them in debt up the wazoo
I use cash and thats it or bank card ( debit) if I dont have the money I dont ask for credit........
I honestly feel great I went last night with a 3 hr time span and had 4 cigs now for me that is a BIGGIE.......
I am usually chain smoking all day long....Not yesterday....not today and I feel the difference...........
ANAL leakage I do not need...thanks my sweet megs I am not a big one for chips.ONLY poker ones for sure. YOU are too funny
Ocean ......I believe journalling is awesome to do so is the positivity you bring to the boards........

I'm in!

A couple of chips for going to my business conference this weekend and not running to the ER because I was scared. (I was kind of tempted the first night.)

Lyn, congrats on stopping smoking. That's worth one of the fancy chips the casinos give the high rollers!

Tony, glad you joined us. Yummy chips for taking such good care of your insides.

Meg, beaucoup chips for going to class without meds available. Willingly giving up those safety nets is SO hard. When my shortness of breath first started, my docs and I thought it was just some weird -- and scary -- allergic reaction. So for three years I've carried an Epipen with me just about everywhere, even though it's now certain (and has been for most of that time) that I don't need it. Wish I could stop needing to have it handy. Just call me Linus.

Percycat,   You are awesome - you did a great job with your conference, presentations, and not going to the ER.  I am so very proud of you and you should be proud of yourself as well!  You deserve a huge pat on the back (my therapist says that giving ourselves a pat on the back is a most powerful tool that we can use).  You also deserve many chips for your accomplishments.  KUDOS to you!!   Take care and again, I am so proud of you - good job, Wen

It is great to see all of you here and I am impressed with each and everyone's accomplishments.
I have a Doctors appointment for my yearly physical tomorrow which was due in June but I am not freaking out and I will not cancel this one. She is a lovely lady and good doctor. So I would like a chip for staying in the moment and keeping the wolves at bay.
I am fine, I am ok and I have nothing to fear but fear itself.

Well, I think I deserve a chip for going to my therapy appointment yesterday.  I didn't cancel it like I did last week.  This session was VERY exhausting for me - I came home and went on the computer for all of 5 minutes and decided I just couldn't do it.  I laid down so that I could relax and my husband said that within 10 minutes I was sound asleep; I slept for about 3 hours.  I was just so mentally drained - it was a tough session as we talked about some of my issues about my mother, which as some of you know she passed in December and now she and I will never be able to resolve our issues.  I now have to find a way to resolve them on my own and that's what we started to do in yesterday's session.  Boy, it was hard!!  But it needs to be done so that I can let go of the anger and move on.  Now you know why I wasn't able to be here posting yesterday.  I then spent the rest of the evening playing cards with my older son and his girlfriend.  That helped me to relax as well and helped me to think about other things for awhile - it was nice.   I'm so glad that Lyn thought of this thread, great idea!!   Luvs to all, Wen

Wen, We will give you 5 chips cause therapy is tough and talking about your past is extremely hard.
I want you to rest too. I am off to the Dr. and have been in tears this morning but I will just go not.............it feels like going to prison. I spend so much time at clinic but I know I ma lucky to have good doctors. They are unlucky to have difficult patient.

Hello and I made it, it is after lunch time and I survived the morning. I did break down a shed a few tears of nerves with the Dr. but we did talk and she listened and thought perhaps I was right. So instend of adding another potent med per the Pdoc wanted we are going to try a low dose of HRT to see if that doesn't help with mood stablizing.
So I thank you for your help my family and Percycat, you are a sweetie.
Wen, I will let you continue to be the early bird but please don't feel you must as you need your sleep ins too.
Meg, the best thing you can do for me is get well. I hate to play Poker with someone who is dizzy............I might take advantage of you. hee hee......................
