Sister Friend and my Xanax

Hey there Sydnee,

I would suspect your friend is asking for yours as she may be using hers up and cannot get it refilled until it's due date.  So she is attempting to get more by borrowing from you. You are right to say no or your RX will run out ahead of refill date.

Using the one she gave you is different than her expecting you to contribute to her monthly supply.

I am proud of you for holding the line on this issue.

Thanks for explaining that to me..........so the meds are being shared and they would like you to contribute.  I am so proud of you for not getting into this as it only leads to trouble.  In the end someone comes up short on pills if they take more then prescribed or give them away when they need their own meds.

Besides it is not right to take others meds on a regular basis.  Someone could overdose.

I am glad you have good common sense not to get into this game.

I understand you having the need to "Borrow " the xanax to get to the doctor
THERE is where it should have ended IMHO

Legal ,moral issues could very well come out of all this

What if the one SF decides to call or report to your PDOC that you are giving her meds that were RX to you
YOu never know what runs thru an addicts head
ESPECIALLY when they know where or who has the meds they want

Just a thought

Have a zero tolerance for it

I had given my ex a couple of my pain meds til his were due ..same meds in fact

'WE have the same doc and I figure ok no prob
WELLLL was I wrong on that
I was given proper hades and told NEVER to do that again

'To call him ( doc) and he would order his meds a couple of days early
He is not an addict he has severe leg pain from many operations and injuries

I wish you well in all of this and I too have to say I am proud you have stood your ground so far

You have done the right thing. I let my ex hubbie take my xanax for recreational use (many moons ago!) and all it did was make me look like a "druggie" when I had to explain why my prescription was finished so early. Look after you, look after your self respect and don't give in (oh I'm giving advice - sorry)!!! Do what you feel is right for you and know we support you.

Sydnee, I would like to suggest something. When you get well again, and you will, you not only need to change your life, but the toxic people you associate with. Being around positive independent people is all part of the recovery process.
This friend of yours is trouble, sure she may help you and be sweet, but she's toxic.

Good for you for standing your ground. If she has a drug addiction, she'll need to get her "stash" elsewhere. She is totally wrong to have even asked you.

Personally, I don't know how anyone can even think or be normal with that much xanax. Most I ever took in a day was 1 mg and I was a zombie. Being a zombie does not equate to healing

Lyn...congrats on being sober. That is tough work.

When I got out of a VERY destuctive relationship with this guy 3 1/2 yrs back, I knew I needed to change my life and it knew it was going to be a slow prcoess.
I went into codependency therapy for 6 months and slowly (well in a month period) walked away from the majority of my friends.
My friends were not bad people, just toxic to me. I even cut off my family for a few months. That was TOUGH! Middle of winter and I was totally alone for months. I went from having a ton of friends to having not a soul.

I had friends who I knew for 30 yrs who I had to walk away from. Some were low life thieves. liars (I HATE LIARS), some were alcoholics etc. I seem to attrack desperate people, maybe because of my anxiety, I always felt comfortable around people who were "less than me" so I could control them.

And still all this time later I work on finding healthy people. I've found a few and still keep a healthy distance. I've not spoken to one of the friends I walked away from. They tried to call me and I never returned their calls. Best thing I ever did.

If I hadn't borrowed Xanax from her,I would still be in my House.It DID end with my borrowing,but she mentioned occasionally getting 2 MG's of my Xanax.I ask that ya'll please understand that just because she asked for my Medication doesn't mean I will give.

She recently asked her Dr. for 2 MG Bars and he refused.He obviously suspected a Drug/Dependency problem because he asked for a Urine sample.

My Sister Friend has physical pain for which she takes prescription pain Medications.If 1 doesn't work she takes more.

She already takes Xanax,Cymbalta and Phenergan.She doesn't take Medication as directed.

I know about toxic People.Already written off 3 toxic Friends.Yes she is toxic,however I see something good in her too.

My Friend hasn't had an easy life,but for the most part she brought some of it on herself.Like continuing to stay in an Abusive Marriage when she had the means to earn herself a living to support her Children.

Oh and get this..she told me earlier today not to take a full 2 MG..to score it..isn't how the Doctor write the orders..

This is the first 2 MG bar Xanax Prescription I've had.I've taken 1 MG,.05 MG and 0.25 MG.

My Doctor told me he really doesn't care for Xanax,but he read my chart and felt it was needed at this time.

I was alowed up to 4 10 mg valium plus ativan daily and although I wasnt a zombie I was realy not self
I talked to my doc and slowly have weaned self off

I was on Valium 40 mg per day and it took me 11 months to wean off it extremely slowly so I would not have rebound or severe side effects.

I really would like to see you doing some sort of therapy as it is well known that treatment for anxiety works best using  medications and therapy.  Without the therapy you just taking medications which won't change how you deal with the anxiety.

I know you are against therapy but from your list of meds you have run the gambit of benzos although there are some you have not tried but they all work in a similiar way.  Valium has the longest half life and that makes it the better all around med IMHO.

Remember you have anxiety, it does not have you.
