Job Security - NOT - Just Need to Vent

Well, the guy I work with and myself were told this afternoon that our jobs are in the "gray area" when the new system goes live at work in a couple months.  Now, what the "gray area" means we don't have a clue.  I'm tired of worrying every morning when I get up if this is the last day for my job. I went thru this a few months ago and was able to take another job when it came up but now this current job may be going bye bye as well.  I've been laying awake at night with my heart pounding and thoughts just racing thru my head.  No matter what I do, can't seem to stop it all.  I'm just venting.  I'm frustrated is all.  Just either let me know for sure my job is gone or if I am safe.  Don't tell me I'm in the "gray area".  That just doesn't seem fair.  Okay, I feel better now that I've vented.  Thanks for listening.

And my feet are STILL hurting which is also frustrating me after 8 weeks postop I thought that would subside as well.

Sorry to hear about the job.

Don't let something you cannot control, control you by making let your head pound and lose sleep.
It's not fair, life is not about fair, it's about knowing that whatever happens, it will work out for the best

Hey there,

Gray area would say to me I am being gently given the hint............it would cause me distress also.  Tough part is the anticipatory anxiety of wondering what is going to happen to you.

I know this is very difficult but try to stay in the moment and take each problem when it happens. Many hugs to you.

Diane,

I'm sorry you are going through this, it's just awful not knowing what is going to happen. You are justified in having a vent! Especially if those footsies are still giving you grief.

Try not to get overwhelmed (easy to say - hard to do). If that grey area, turns into a "bye bye" I know you will find the strength to get another position. You are one tough lady! Keep us posted now.

Diane,

It sounds like your skills are valued in general (by how you found another job), even if your current employer is hinting about not having "room" for you in the future. If this job goes, you will be snapped up by someone else; I believe it. In this day and age, it's not always about good workers, but rather about crunching numbers to make the highest bottom line.

Thanks for your support and letting me vent.  We did have a department meeting today (about 1/2 hour before I left work) and they did not let anyone go at this point in time.  Sheryl (our new director) said "now whose to say there won't be more cutbacks down the line a month or two, we don't know".  So, she appeased us for now by saying we were safe for today and maybe next week or two.  I'm not holding my breath and I'm not letting myself stress out.  If it is meant that I am to be out of a job, so be it.  If it is meant for me to stay, so be it.  Whatever happens will happen and I cannot control it.  I have told my family that if something does happen, I am gonna take some time off and then look for a job.  Let the hospital pay my unemployment benefits for a while.  It's a wait and see game for now.

What an amazingly strong person you are. With an attitude like yours then you will get through this just fine (but you still have full permission to vent now okay!). You are right, there is no point stressing about it, just hold your head high :-) and know how strong you are.

How are the feet going? Better I hope.

Thank you Meg.  I never look at myself as a "strong" person but it's nice to hear.  I feel mentally weak and feeble.  It takes all of my energy to keep myself in the present and keep my train of thought focused on what I can do and not let it wander to what I have no control over.

My feet aren't doing so good.  I go back to the podiatrist/surgeon next Wednesday and we are going to talk about more extensive surgery for my "footies".  I'm bummed that the first ones didn't work right and now am having to go thru it possibly all over again.  Oh well.  I know you all will be here when I am off work again and bored stiff after surgery.  I know where to come to find lots of friends.

Hey girly. Have you tried looking for another job while your not at work. It wouldn't hurt to have a back up plan. I know it would at least give you other options. I hope and pray everything works out for you! Try not to worry about it, because as we all know and have been told numerous times, worry wont change anything. Very hard to just stop though, I know. Keep us updated and always keep venting. It helps so much just to tell someone what your going through. Love to ya!

You are in no way feeble or weak. I won't hear of it! Now I am very sorry about the bummed up surgery, that must be so frustrating. Keep us in the loop, you know how much we care, love and support our HW family. You will get through this bad patch. We will support you
