Health Anxiety Part 1

I know this is going to sound crazy.I just ate 1/2 of a chocolate muffin.My heart is pounding like crazy.Can chocolate do that? Or is my worry founded that I am indeed having a heart attack.

thank you everyone, Kitt those are some great words ! i have been doing some exercises too.

Well everyone wish me luck tomorrow.I have a appt with MD in the AM and a therapist mid afternoon.Im very much trying to get a handle on this HA thing.Im thinking that even if they offer me a anti depressent I am going to take a low dose one for a couple of months.ANything to stop this feeling of panic of googling into the wee hours of the night looking up symptons.

Amazing how different a person can feel by staying away from Google. Yesterday it was brutal for about

 1/2 a day. Driving my wife bonkers by worrying about stuff that I likely don't have.

I've tried my darndest over the last few days to stay away from Google and have had some really good days. I've been seeing a counsellor

and he has been very blunt with me and I think that may be what I need, but it still hurts to hear it. He has just been encouraging me to think of the positives around me...i.e. I'm a very rich man...oops that came out the wrong way... I'm not rich, but my life is!

Trying to ignore all the little twitches, gurgling, minor pains, etc. is easier said than done when you've got health anxiety happening.

he iall, i have some news to share.
i went to the neurologist the other day and he think my problmes, (facial numbness etc) is due to my migraines. he schedualed me for a mri and a brain wave test both of i wish i didnt have to do but it will clear things up. he also put me on some migrain meds. today was my 1st day on them and man, makes me tired.

also my bloodwork came back from my general DR. and my b 12 is low. so now iam also taking that. lol i have to use little old lady pill dispenser for the days of the week i take so many meds now. lol

I'm so glad you got some answers! I suffer from migraines too, they are awful. Most of the time I get a headache every day. Runs in my family actually. I get the ocular migraines, in addition to the severly painful ones. Where I will see an aura. Those freak me out, and actually what kind of started my health anxiety over my eyes.

Oh and I already have the big granny pill case. LOL It's huge, with slots for morning, afternoon, evening, and night. Sadly each place has meds in it. Between my Crohn's, high blood pressure, birth control, and now my anti-depressant, I feel like all I do is take meds! But it all keeps me going, so what can ya do!

Good Morning and I am so glad you have a reason for your facial numbness.  The tests will be a walk in the park for you but I know any time you have to have tests it does cause your anxiety to spike so remember you will be OK.

I have a little ole lady pill box to but I bought a purse large enough to take my drugs with me when I am going some where as I have some prn meds.

Again I am proud of you and very glad you did seek out your Doctor for help.

I am glad you were able to get your mri done and I'm sorry to hear about your anxiety because of the date. I think any of us would feel anxious under the circumstances of losing loved ones on a certain date, then getting the tests back on the same. I think if it bothers you too much, maybe you should call the place where you had you mri or your doc and let them know what you just shared with us and they would more than happy to bump it a day my friend. I hope everything turns out great for you, and I have feeling it will :)

My best suggestion is to quit googling, you will get the test results and all the googling in the world is not going to help right now.  For every article you find you will see something that may be "you"  and your feeding your anxiety.

How do I know this...........I do the very same thing myself but then I get frustrated as there is just to much info on the web to sort through.

I am sending you warm hugs and kick that anxiety to the curb.

Ok So I am new on here and need some advise.... I have struggled with Anxiety for many years, I am on Effecor XR 150mg, love it but this is whats wrong, I am 28 weeks pregnant, on December 7th 2008 I was admitted into the hospital for Hydronephrosis of my right Kidney I spent a week in there, They places a Nephrostomy Tube into my kidney that comes out of my back since the Ureter was blocked, now being pregnant they wouldnt do a CT scan to sk to see why it was blocked so they said, Kidney Stones but not 100% sure... Well my stay there was horrible they Placed the 1st tube (they gave me an epidural for it) well later that evening I woke up in extreme pain when the epidural wore off, come to find out when the Techs and the Dr rolled me over they had ripped the tube out of my kidney which was held in place in my kidney by a what they call a Pigtail so it wouldnt slip out oftere by itsself... Well it was ripped out, so they replaced it, still did it wront ( note to self even though this procedure is very painful DO NOT have an epidural or spinal, trust me its worth it to know that it was done correctly as soon as its placed correctly...) Any ways my problem is this I am now 28 weeks pregnant and just got out of theHospital for the 6th time and te 6th Nephrostomy Tube Placement because well the first 2 were done wrong, but the last 3 have been getting clogged with Calcium Stones, these stones have made it impossible for them to release the pigtail that holds it in place so they are forced to rip it out of my kidney so far twice, I am worried that my kidney is going to die or give me some horrible problems in the future... The good news is they tried to place a stent in but coudnt but they did find to my Ureter is curled like a pigtail so it doesnt work right anayways, but the baby is compressing it at the bottom forcing it to all back up......She is going to be 5-6 weeks early, so that is in 6 1/2 weeks...Which prob means that I will have at least 2-3 more horrible Tubes being ripped out of my kidney and being placed in again........... AHHHHH Does anyone have any thoughts or advice on this???? Im on Bedrest and have to take Percocet 10 and Demerol 50 and Phenergen and ABX and all kinds of pills and I am just sooo scared and anxious about this whole situation.... Help me please!!!!!!

Welcome to HealingWell. I am so sorry you are going through so much pain and anxiety. I think you have a right to your anxiety but the trick is not to get stuck on the merry-go-round of anticipatory anxiety.  Stay in the moment, and don't dwell on the past as it is over. Tommorow will take care of itself so don't let the anxiety build up about the "what if's ?"

I know a bit about nephrostomy tubes, my sister has one for a blocked ureter also.............She has had her's since  mid August. They have always used  Versed when placing the tube and replacing it.  So this has not been as painful for her as for you.

From your post it sounds to me like your pregnancy is playing a major role in your problems.............I am hoping once you get through the last weeks of your pregnancy you will also get rid of the tubes and the pain.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
