I see in your profile signature that you have had two resections.  Was it because of a stricture?  My stricture is scar tissue, so it looks like it will need to be removed down the road.  It is my sigmoid colon.  May I ask about your experience with the resections?

1.  Why did you get it (symptoms, scarring, etc.)

2.  Laproscopic or open

3.  Length of hospital stay

4.  What meds did you take for pain right after surgery

5.  Did you need an NG tube

6.  Where the surgeries worth it

Hi Julie,

I don't mind answering your questions at all. I had both of my resections because of obstructions. The first one was an emergency because I had completely obstructed. The second was because I had developed a stricture at the reconnection site (I had alot of nausea). Both of my surgeries were open, due to alot of adhesions. I was in the hospital for about 10 days for each of them. Mine were unusually long because I got an infection in my incision both times (becuz the stupid surgeon never had me prep beforehand). After the first resection I was on Demerol, and after the second one I used a patient controlled pain pump with Dilaudid in it (I would recommend this). Yes I did have an NG tube with both of them, but I hear they are not using them that often anymore. They put it in after I was asleep, it helps so you are not throwing up afterwards (I never did). And yes, 100% my surgeries were worth it. My quality of life was so bad beforehand, that I anything was better than before. I hoep this helps and if you have anymore questions, let me know.
