Health Anxiety....rearing it's ugly head again

Saw the post while popping in tonight and thought the timing was good to post on my HA firing back up again.

I've posted previously about this and was driving my wonderful wife crazy with my constant worry about my health. It got to the point where I went on Effexor thinking it may help me out. Well after only 2+ weeks I have quit cold turkey because of the side effects, especially the constant sweating. Alongside of this I just decided to change my mindset because of how much I hated these side effects. After a week, things seemed to be pretty good.

Then I got a call from my doc today on some bloodwork I had done  and my HA is right back where it was.

My lipase levels are elevated (slightly) High end for me at this lab was 286, and my levels were at 319. 3 months previous at another lab the high end was  300 and my level was 296. So it has risen but I guess not going through the roof. One of my HA fears is Pancreatic disease so the minute I have anything that can point to a pancreatic issue I panic.

The reason she called me though was that my ferritin levels were low enough that she wants to put me on something. Don't know what the reading were.

Don't know what this all means, but I think it will push my HA coping to the max.

Any pointers/tips are appreciated.

ZLSJ - I'm sorry to hear that your anxiety has gotten high again! I think any of us with health anxiety would get worked up hearing that some blood work might be off! All the "what if's" whirl around in your head & get the best of you. I wish I had the magic cure that could get rid of it, but I know for a fact I'd probably we losing control of my anxiety in your shoes too. It doesn't sound like your Dr. was overly concerned, so try to take some comfort in that!

Hope your able to lower your anxiety.

Please try to stay in the moment. I know easier said than done. But I agree with LDH85, your doctor was not overly concerned, so do take some comfort in that.

Also, try to feel better knowing that your doctor is aware that your blood work is a little off and wants to put you on something to correct the problem... So, you'll be okay... :)

I'm going through the same thing. I just started Effexor a couple days ago, I'm trying to tough it out through the side effects and hope it gets better.

Thanks all for the kind words.

Struggling a bit, but holding up much better then I thought I would be. Really feel like something is up this time, even though doc is unconcerned. I've also lost a fair jag of weight..seems like fat more than anything, especially around my face.

As before, tons of bloodwork, some x-rays, C-scope, endoscopy...but nothing found. So hopefully it's all in my head.

I've been just over a week off of effexor after 2.5 weeks on. I did not enjoy my 2 weeks or so on it. Trying to change my attitude has helped me some. Though this news on my bloodwork has set me back a bit. Will keep you posted on any developments.
