hi my name is jeff 39 i aM NEW AT THIS BUT NEED HELP ADVICE  A FRIEND IN THIS MESS I AM IN    9 MONTHS AGO A OF THE BLUE I STARTED TO HAVE PANICKS  BREATHLESSNESS  WERNT TO ER 13 TIMES NOW   ALL TESTS COME BACK NORMAL  HEART IS GOOD   2 STRESS TESTS   TRYED SSRI MANY OF THEM MADE ME REAL SICK   THAN TRYED 6 DIFFERENT ANTIDREPRESSANTS  WITH NO LUCK   THEY WANT ME NOW TO TRY LEXAPRO LIQUID HAVE ALL THESE SENSATIONS  THAT ARE JUST THAT THEY SAY   ARE HARMLESS   JUST DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMORE  EVERYONE WHO KNOW ME ARE SICK OF HEARING about IT   WHAT I WOULD GIVE TO BE FREE OF ALL THIS HELL  AND IT IS   ALL THAT    FOR YOUS THAT KNOW    IS THERE A END IN SIGHT  I HAVE 3 KIDS  ONE 9 YEAR OLD BOY  2 GIRLS  4AND TEN  THEY TINK I AM DYEING     MY 4 YEAR SAID  DAD IF U DYE WE WONT BE MAD AT YOU     JUSTS BREAKS MY HEART    NEVER THOUGHT  THER WAS SUCH A FINE LINE BETWEEN GOOD HEALTH AND TOTAL HELL  GOD BLESS U ALL THAT ARE GOING THROUGH THIS      IS THERE A GOOD ENDIND TO THIS STORY I DONT KNOW  NEED HELP AND A GOOD FRIEND   ALL MINE TURNED THERE BACKS  AND CANT BELIVE SOME OF MY FEELING  AND PAIN     I AM STRONG  AS ABULL   SO I THOUGHT    I WEIGHT 220 BEFORE ALL THIS HAPPENED  NOW 190   SO MUCH I COULD SAY  MORE BUT I WILL LEAVE YOU WITH THIS  SEND A PRAYER FOR ME AND ILL SEND 2 FOR U  GOD BLESS ALL

Hi Jeff
Breathe! I know mine attacks didnt start til I was 32(now 41). they come and go sometimes for yrs and its like it's new all over again when they come back. I dont like meds either and will not take long term meds and drs wont give me any quick acting if I am not going to take the other.
So, I have been learning to deal with them on my own with the help of these forums, chat rooms and people in here I have connected with. I am trying to retrain my brain not to react to the adrenaline rushes and the other physical symptoms. Have you thought about counseling? Finding out what the root cause has help me out tremendously. Not that they have gone away but they sren't even close to what they used to be and I found coming into chat when they are happening has helped more then I can say! Good luck and hope to see you in chat at some point I am sure it would help.

Hi Jeff

I've certainly been through much of what you are experiencing and it is no fun. Relax! these things are all normal with depression and believe it or not, there is an end in sight. I agree that counseling might help if you are not doing so at this time. Things will get better,although when a person is deeply depressed it just seems like there is no end in sight. Hang in! Things do get better. We're all here to help one another get through these difficult times. This is a great site for people like ourselves.

wink  Jeff, what was happening around 9 months ago that might have caused your panic attacks? A psychiatrist told me years ago, that our subconscious is like a bucket. Every bit of stress (good or bad) goes into the bucket. When the bucket overflows, panic attacks occur. This made sense for me due to all I've been through. Try to think if something may have pushed you over the edge 9 months ago.

It's now time to learn some coping techniques. I don't know if you've read any of the other threads on here, but they're very helpful. You can be doing lots of things to help yourself feel better. Also, if you can, try to keep the panic/anxiety attacks under wraps around your kids. Sounds like they are worrying about you and that isn't good. Your daughter sounds very cute!

Keep coming on here and letting us know how you're feeling. Relaxation techniques, books and changing your diet help tremendously. Begin a journal and see a therapist. You will feel better! Hang in there!

I would go ahead and give the Lexapro a chance. These meds do have some side effects, but if you will push thru it, I think within a short time you will start feeling better. I am attaching a few links that might be of help to you, check them out.

Hello and welcome to HealingWell,

I am sorry to hear of your extreme anxiety.  You have come to a very supportive group that know where your coming from and what you are going through.

It sounds to me like you have been on so many meds that none of them have really had a chance to work.  Please do try to ride out the side effects of the Lexapro and give it a chance.  These meds may take up to 4-6 weeks for the full therapuetic effect to be felt.

Also do you use an antianxiety med at all, Xanax or Ativan? There are many available and using them short term may be an option until the Lexapro is working well.

Nanners posted great links for you.  Please do read through them and I highly recommend the online CBT or the E-couch.  It is free and you can work through the program from home.

sorry for the capital letters   thank you all for your help  i will hang in there  alot on the line   i take klonpin or clonazepam  1mg  i dont want to get hooked   on this  but i have  hope i can weeen off easy  but from what i read its hell   i will use this through the lexapro than try to stop after it starts to work the lexapro   benzos  are real bad  when  they wear off i get chest pains  warming of the chest  musles  jumping in my arms   this is  scary  need help like you said     i will seek that   i dont know if i can make this journey  some times ...but must fight this thanks for the links they are helping  thanks for hearing me and not turning your back   like my so call friends  this is a lonely road  untill this help from strangers and people like me  be in touch     thank you all
