Im not sure about the free meds- Im in Australia and we do things differently here, but in regards to free therapy I will give you some links to some really great and very helpful free online counselling sites.

Depends a lot on your location. Have a look at this website: http://www.befrienders.org/helplines/helplines.asp?c2=USA

They're religious but aren't pushy. And even though there's a lot of suicide hotlines on there and stuff, that's not all they help out with. They're just local people who can help to let you know what's available in your area in terms of mental health. If you need medication the cheapest way is probably going to be through your county health department, and they can tell you how to go about getting help from them. I doubt there's much free one-on-one therapy out there but you can probably find someone to work with you on a sliding scale.

I'm not sure where you are located but I'm in Minnesota in the U.S.

I know that you can get anti-depressants for $4 if it's a generic at Target and Walmart. There's prescription assistance at CVS and Walgreens too.

Free though? Not unless it's an anti-depressant newly released and you go to a doctor or shrink who gives you samples. When I didn't have insurance, I'd go to the shrink and he'd give me several months worth of free samples to help deter the costs of meds. But it cost me $150 to see the shrink. Without insurance tho; my medication Lexapro is $200 a month. I only had to visit the shrink every few months. It was worth it.

If you don't make a lot of money you can get on state health insurance and prescriptions and therapy would be free with a minimal or no co-pay.

Hi Bellabug.  I was going to give you the same advice that twiggygal just did.  The prescriber that I have been seeing for about eight years now has been providing me with consistent free samples for the past 2-3 years now as I have no insurance and am currently unable to find a job (despite my best efforts).  I know finding someone who can do this is probably difficult, but will be a godsend to you if you are able to.
