Another medication question/increased symptoms

So my doc switched me from paxil to zoloft a week ago. I thought I was progressing on the paxil but he thought in the long run the zoloft would work better.

I took 50mg for a week and then started 100mg daily yesterday. I feel really gloomy. Could cry at any moment and have more anxiety then I did while starting the Paxil.

Should I just wait it out since it has only been a week? I know sometimes it can cause this but I feel like I have backslid.

I will be calling him tomorrow. I hate to have to switch meds again. I have been on 4 in the last 6 months.

Any suggestions my dear friends?

KitKat: Just a thought, when did you stop taking the Paxil?  Did you stop one day and then immediately go into taking the Zoloft?  It could be possible that you are having some withdrawal symptoms from the Paxil and that is what is affecting you right now.  However, it does sound like a good idea to check in with a doctor.  I know I get all nervous when I have to start a new med because we never really know how our body is going to react.

I did stop one day and then just started the zoloft the next day. Just not feeling as "normal" as I was starting to feel on the Paxil. I will call today to see if I just need to wait it out.

I have never taken zoloft before so I really don't know how it will make me feel. I wish I just stayed on the paxil.

These meds can take 4-6 weeks to reach full efficacy, so I personally think you should give it more time. But if the side effects get to be too much, then do check with your doctor. Good luck!

Good Morning and I agree with Nanners, you have to give the meds time to kick in. As both meds are in the same category you should not have any significant withdrawal sx from Paxil. JMHO

As always your physician is the best one to advice you on meds if you are feeling really awful. Hope things get better for you soon.

Thanks everyone. I didn't think there would be withdrawal from the paxil since they are both SSRIs. Just wondering why I went from feeling okay...to not so okay since the switch.

Maybe the paxil was better for me. Waiting for a call back from doc office to see what they have to say. I was on paxil for 2 weeks and now zoloft for 1. Just feel like I am going backwards now.
