Question of the Week - May 14,2010

Dear Friends,

I would have to say I am most proud of raising my family while going to school to become a nurse.  I went to college when I had 4 children at home. My oldest was 14 and my youngest was 7 at the time. 

Yep,  I am proud of my accomplishment !

Dear Kitt,
That is so sweet of you to say!!! Sometimes it just seems like everyone has lived a life but me! I never married, had kids, owned anything big, worked a regular job, etc...none of the usual accomplishments that one hopes for and expects.
As to be a caring person, I won't demur with false modesty. I have ALWAYS cared about how others felt. Even as a little kid, if I thought I'd upset my mom or done something bad, I'd cry out of guilt.
As I've grown older, it is ever more important to me to try to be an encouragement to others in whatever way I can. Just a smile and a sincere "hello" can make a person's day.
Thank you for seeing that about me. It means a lot. And truly, it is how I feel about you. You're always trying to help people here and on your other site. You are a strong lady, despite your GAD and other problems!

Also I agree with Lyn that you have given so much support here to other members since you have joined. You take the time to respond to posts straight from your heart and your own experiences. Sharing is another great accomplishment for you.

Dear csmc

Grief is a normal and healthy response to loss, not an illness. Its symptoms are painful, but they serve an adaptive purpose. Most grief runs its course with the support of your friends/family. But sometimes grief can trigger depression. Breaking off your ties to your previous therapist has most likely caused you to feel so sad. It was a loss for you.

When grief triggers depression, the sadness can be unrelenting and overwhelming. Some people describe it as “living in a black hole” or having a feeling of impending doom. Even when participating in activities you used to enjoy, you feel as if you are just “going through the motions.” You may also feel numb, lifeless and empty. I have been through much grief and am working through my losses with my therapist. There are all kinds of losses we experience and each one is painful for us.

Please keep on sharing your feelings with your new therapist and also talking to your family here in HW.

Hello there dear friend and it is good to hear from you and see you "living the dream". I am so proud of you for facing the anxiety head on and beating back the monster. I know how hard you have worked to get to where you are now and accepting the anxiety and walking through it is an awesome thing.
