Hello all. I am a 46 yo female who has had anxiety problems basically my whole life and panic attacks for the past 4-5 years. I can go for months without a panic attack sometimes. Last week my husband and two children were gone for 5 days/4 nights. I was home with my other two children (11 & 9), and was very stressed and anxious that I would have a medical emergency while they were gone. I have a lot of health related anxiety. The last night they were gone I had a brief surge of adrenaline but was able to talk myself out of panicking. The next morning (Saturday) I had a full-blown attack. I took .25 mg Lorazepam, and did calm down. Sunday, I had a lot of anxiety and took another .25 mg. For most of the day I felt very agitated, restless, racing thoughts, and thought I might be losing my mind. I was afraid it was related to the Lorazepam, even though that dose seems really small and I haven't taken it in a while before that.
Today I continues to have racing thougts, inability to settle down, feelings of going crazy, etc. My questions: When you go through a very stressful time (dh being gone) does it build up the adrenaline in your system and cause the increase in anxiety/panic? Will this dissipate over time? Is it possible the medicine did something to my mind? Is it possible that I am losing my mind?
Please help! I am scared.
