Anxiety and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Oops! I replied to a topic before I saw the request to introduce myself. I live in the UK and I recovered this year from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I've come to the anxiety part of this site though because anxiety was for me the biggest thing that kept me in the chronic fatigue loop, and it was only by learning to manage my anxiety that I broke free of illness. However while I am doing well, things can sometimes get on top of me and I feel myself slipping back into anxiety patterns so I imagine that staying on top of anxiety and not allowing myself to be overwhelmed will be a constant part of my journey. In particular a stressful event of the last few weeks did challenge me to use all of my new resources and it was quite hard not to tip back into my old patterns - then of course the fear I was getting anxious again leads to fear of becoming ill again and that makes me anxious in itself! All is well today but it will be good to be in contact with other people who are also winning the battle and getting their lives back.

Hi and welcome. Sorry to hear that you have been through a challenging time in your relationship (we've all been there!) Great job on recognizing it as an opportunity to use the tools that you have acquired! You may be experiencing a set-back, but I can tell that it won't get the best of you. You have a proactive approach in your attitude/treatment, and that will serve you well. That said, it's still no fun to be in a rough place, so it's good that you found this place. It is full of great people who truly understand and care. Keep up the good work, and visit often!

Welcome to HealingWell and the A & P Forum. I look forward to getting to know you better.

I understand the cycle of anxiety leading to what if's leading to fear of illness and how difficult it is to keep on top of anxiety, so just get off the merry-go-round as quickly as possible when you can.

I was dx 28 years ago with anxiety and depression but I refuse to let it rule my life. When I have bad times I try to accept that the good times will be back if I work hard at overcoming the obstacles.

I am glad to read you understand that it is a constant journey and you will be on the high road most of the time. Blessings.
