Good for you, I hope that you have a wonderful first session! My advice would be to give yourself permission to pause and think before answering the questions that the therapist asks you. Personally, I tend think and talk very fast, especially when I'm excited, emotional or nervous. This causes me to want to blurt out anything and everything, not necessarily what I want/need to convey. I had to train myself to slow down, and even learn to say "Let me think about
that for a moment", giving myself time to choose my words. This also helped me to have a feeling of comfort-that I was in control of my words, not the other way around!
Also, be patient in your therapy. I think that I expected an immediate result, or that the therapist would say "Do this and this..." and the anxiety would be gone. This is going to be a journey that will be full of trial and error, things that work and things that don't. There isn't a one-size-fits-all cure so be ready to cut yourself and your therapist some slack-stay open-minded and as flexible as possible.
I look forward to hearing how it went-keep us posted!
