So Today is my second morning with Lexapro. And though I still didnt sleep worth a poo the shaking was almost non - existent. And I didnt wake up feeling bland and blank. Still a little bit dizzy but I hope today is a better day than yesterday. Though I do have a complaint. When I wake up my jaw aches like ive clenched my teeth the whole night. Is this something anyone else has experienced?

Hi R, I can't answer regarding the medication, somebody else will be able to soon I'm sure, but I did want to say I'm glad you're feeling a bit better today. I have dizzyness as an anxiety symptom, and I don't take meds. Did you ever experience this previoulsy? Ninity-nine percent of the time mine will go away if I do my breathing exercises. A/Pers shallow/rapid breathe without even being aware of it. The hyperventilation can cause dizzyness, tingling, numbing, de-realization, ect.
This could also be a side effect of course, that will level out soon. I hope that today continues to be a better one for you. Hang in there!

I haven't experienced that symptom personally, but I feel like I just read something about a side effect of something being "grinding of teeth". I don't think it was Lexapro specifically, but the jaw ache may very well be a side effect. I'm glad today is better for you. Hang in there - the first week or two are usually the hardest with a new medicine. With time you'll be better able to identify your side effects and hopefully start feeling better.

I think I heard somewhere that grinding your teeth in your sleep is a side effect of stress? So it could be a byproduct of your anxiety, if that's the case!

Thanks Guys. No I never had dizziness before and I never had this jaw pain and ive been dealing with anxiety a while. My day was pretty good. Kept getting chills and yawning quite a bit. But it was better. I really appreciate all the positive feedback!

Glad you're still giving it a try. I've never taken Lexapro, so I don't know about its side effects. When I tried Zoloft years ago, I had terrible trouble staying asleep and then getting back to sleep, so I can commiserate with you on that one.

I was on Lexapro and had the jaw clenching-thing...and teeth grinding.  I was chewing the inside of  my cheeks and lips and finally went to the dentist and had a mouth guard made...bit through it.  And yes, it was painful and caused headaches.  But it went away eventually. When I weaned off the drug the same thing happened.  Yawning is also common.  I was told to always take it in the morning also to prevent insomnia.  Some people become sedated on this class of drugs intil it kicks in but it was just the opposite for me...very hyper.  That went away also.
