Hi IWR, sorry it took this long to get back to you...busy afternoon/evening last night...
Congratulations on your interview!!! RB is right, everyone has anxiety about these things, it is perfectly normal. We A/Pers do have exaggerated symptoms though!
Being a little nervous is actually a performance enhancing state of being. It keeps us sharp, focused, ready to take it on! However, if you suffer anxiety, there is an overload of adrenaline and cortisol, all of the stress hormones build to detrimental levels:(
A good way to combat this build up is with a combination of exercise and relaxation/breathing pratices. I would recommend getting a good heart pumping workout (health allowing) and following up with some meditation and deep breathing/progressive muscle relaxation time before your interview. This will hopefully get you into a good place physicall and mentally!
Remember, even if you feel nervous and have the air hunger feelings, chances are no one else notices. I have had a full on panic attack in front of an audience before. Since my job is performance oriented, and I suffered daily panic attacks for a time, I trained myself to breathe through the symptoms until they stopped plaguing me.
Good luck to you, it will be great! Let us know how it goes,
Scaredy Cat
