It's been almost 4 weeks that I have been taking 5mg of Lexapro. Ive taken Effexor and zoloft in the past and it doesnt seem to matter what I take my heart dips down below 60 which is not pleasant . My normal resting rate is 72 bpm. I remember it happening will all of them but I dont think it lasted 4 weeks. My breathing seems to be getting a bit better and thats good, But this low heart rate really bugs me and not healthy. Im just wondering if I should stick it out for another 2 weeks to see if the side effect goes away. Its hard do things like this. I also want to help my sister because she seems to be going through post partnum depression after the birth of my niece. But its hard to help when Im going through my own issues. Doesnt seem to be a common thing, its usually trachyhardia that is the problem.

Hi and welcome! I have naturally occuring bradycardia,(sometimes in the 40's) and it's my understanding that as long as you are not symptomatic (weakness, fainting/lightheadedness, chest discomfort) that it is not considered dangerous unless the bpm drops below fifty.
As far as from a drug side effect standpoint, I would advise you to ask your doctor how he/she feels about
this. Mine is from physical conditioning, so in other cases it may be different. It's worth inquiring, and if you don't like the way your current and previous meds make you feel, ask about
trying another.
I hope that you feel better soon. Anxiety is quite enough to deal with without the added worry of rx symptoms too!
Again welcome, and post anytime:)

Another thing I forgot to ask. Can IBS or Gerds cause a low heart rate?

Not that I know, or have heard of, but I'm not a medical expert. You should ask your doctor to be sure of what to do in this situation if you are concerned about
it.
You could also check in with those forums here...they might know.
Take care,

Good Morning and welcome. I am wondering if you have ever talked with your psychiatrist re the side effects of these meds as perhaps for you, it may be a unique side effect.
If your normal resting rate is 72, when do you notice the 60 BPM ? Also you say it is not pleasant, can you explain a bit more.
We would love to help you.
Kindly,
Kitt
