I need some advice on how to let my mind ease enough to sleep. I constantly worry. I can't seem to let my past escape me. I am a survivor. But I don't feel like I Have survived. I feel like I am slowly dying inside. I have pushed everyone and everything out of my life but What I have to live by on a day to day basis. I need someone to let me tell my story and feelings to with out feeling judged. Can anyone here help me?

Welcome Bamagirl! I am sorry that you are having trouble sleeping lately:( There are many methods you can try to ensure a good night's sleep, but as you know unresolved anxiety and/or depression can sabotage even the best attempts at getting some zzz's
Have you been in therapy to learn any self-calming techniques? I find that progressive muscle relaxation, breathing exercises and positve mantras are really helpful for falling alseep. Practicing these throughout the day and at bedtime help the body and mind get into a sleep ready state.
Here are some others tried and true ideas:
*Exercise-get a good heart pumping workout (just not too close to bedtime)
*Turn off your devices-ditch the t.v. and computer a couple of hours before turning in
*Warm milk, or decaf tea
*Herbal/homeopathic (consult your dotor first) Melatonin, L-Theanin w/Gaba, Valerian
I hope that you can get the sleep that you need soon and start to feel better. Again welcome, and feel free to post anything that you would like to share (within the forum rules) and feel comfortable with. There is no judgement here, only listening ears compassion and understanding.
Take care,
Scaredy Cat

Welcome to HealingWell. We are happy to have you with us
One thing that really helped me (for a while) was trying to write down everything that was on my mind before I went to bed. That way you don't spend all night thinking about
everything. Unfortunately, this did not help me completely solve my problem.
Everybody is different and there is no magic solution to sleep problems. You simply have to keep trying different methods until you find the right one for you. I am going to share some ideas with you that you may find helpful. I would start with a visit to your PCP.
In addition to talking to your regular doctor you may also want to discuss your sleep problems with your psychiatrist or therapist. If anxiety is the cause then it makes good common sense to treat your anxiety.
Please talk with your Dr. before mixing natural supplements with prescript
ion drugs.
I wish you a good night's sleep.
Kindly,
Kitt
