Tofranil for Panic Disorder, PTSD and Migraines

Good Morning All!

I was just wondering if anyone could give me further information about this Drug Tofranil or the Generic version called

Iminpramine?

I have had Severe Panic Disorder for 30yrs and have been treated for over 20yrs and aside from taking Klonopin which I am going to slowing get off of with in a yr with my Psychiatrist/MD's help all other medications she has tried with me throughout 11 yrs have failed or I had SEVERE reactions to or lastly Zoloft with the Klonopin for yrs just stopped working for me. Hormonal changes I think are why it just stopped helping me control my PD as much.

I've been on mood stabilizers, SSRI's, ALL the Benzo medications and all did not work except Klonopin even Valium at a high dosage made it worse!

My Dr. has done tremendous research on this old drug for 5 yrs and wanted me to give it a try over a yr ago but she knew I REFUSED to be on anymore meds since I felt like a guinea pig and gained so much weight which made my anxiety and depression much worse.

So when I saw her the other day she asked if I was willing to try this out/give it a chance and then I could finally rid myself of klonopin and my migraine meds as well since it helps with migraines, pains, sleeping issues which I have and depression associated with PD and PTSD.

I took it for the first time last night and slept like a LOG after 12 yrs of sleeping issues. BUt the only side effect this morning was my hands shaking, it has stopped now after being awake for 3.5hrs and after taking my klonopin and vitamins.

If anyone knows anything about this drug good and bad I would REALLY appreciate it so much!!! Thanks so much for reading my Post I know your time is valuable.

Oh Shadow... this I know too much about. Had migraines since 10. All my life 10 out of 10 on pain scale. I do have anx/pa/ptsd to name a few. Tried it all 4 migraines incl tof. Just didnt work. I went to a neuro surg. over 10 yrs ago. I knew I didnt sleep but slp study she said worst she had seen n her life. She put me on halcion and trazedone for sleep. Now that I sleep and nvr needed an increase I generally only get a migraine when I cry or def. when theres a bad storm/barometric pressure falls. Then I use imitrex and its gone in half an hour. Mine had the roots in insomnia and what not sleeping... I mean not sleeping... did up there in my head. Dont know if it helps but thats how it goes for me. Let me know how its going for you!

yes, my Migraines can last between 2days to 8 days and i use to have the Aura first. Half on one side of my family has them as well as PD and/or Depression/Bipolar.
I take Fioricet for migraines when I am desperate but I have a 7yr daughter so I don't like to take them unless her Dad is here or a family member. I get Vertigo now as well. I see a Neurologist finally in 2 weeks.
I use to take imitrex prior to having my daughter but I would be bedridden for a good 12-18hrs.
Trazadone did nothing for me at all, and then there was mireplex for restless leg syndrome. they are all connected to my mind just constantly over working. I've been like that since I can remember.
I've gone thru all the SSRI meds, loads of mood stabilizers, cocktails of the two with klonopin and nothing never really worked or I would lose my hair, gain massive weight, tired all the time but at bedtime.
The Migraines came back after 5 yrs of not having any but 3 perhaps and it is def. from massive stress from my miscarriage at 13weeks then they put me on the depo shot and I had them CONSTANTLY, now almost 6 weeks off the shot and still 3-6day migraines.
I am getting one right now but they usually start by noon then by 6 they're unbearable.
I did not like the fact that my hands were shaking this morning from the tofranol if that's what it was from then I got so nauseated I threw up which I NEVER do. I had to force myself to go out because my friend and her child and my child and I had long waited plans to go to the movies. I went, dranks tons of water like always and made myself eat popcorn and I finally lost the nausea feeling but the dizziness was still there prob. from being too close to the movie.
Ah, to feel like myself again physically and make my panic attacks subside once again is for yrs will make me be able to live my life fully with my child. I refuse to give up, I am too strong to let this beat me! We all are.
I will attempt the tofranol for a full weak until I see my Doc and if I am still feeling the shaking and sick badly I will see what I should do immediately.
