Can not to seem to get anxiety under control today..went to see lawyer about
filing bankruptcy and now I am having a panic attack..I have anxiety meds but they are not working. My mind Is spinning, I am sweating, my heart is racing. I am just so stressed out. I have to meet up with a group tonight and do not know if I can get anxiety under control. It has been like this for a month. I am so tired of it.. Does anyone have suggestions on how to control this anxiety? I see my doctor on Tuesday but do not know if that is soon enough. I still have to make it through the weekend like this. I also have crohns so when I have an attack my crohns flares up also.. Just help, please...any advice is welcome!

The best thing I know for an anxiety attack is to get control of your breathing and focus on that. Try to be in a quiet place, maybe put on some soothing music. Remember you have anxiety, it does not have you. I hope that you feel better soon.
Keep posting.

Hi Lasardo, I am sorry that you are feeling so terrible right now. You have been through a stressful event. Financial issues are of course anxiety producing, and the symptoms are really trying to get the best of you, but hopefully you can turn it around.
Karen's suggestion of practicing some deep breathing is a good one. If you can, spend some time decompressing from your stressful day with 10-20 minutes of breathing/relaxation/meditation. Even if you are struggling to feel relaxed, keep it up, your body and mind will respond! Then if it's at all possible to push yourself to go out to your event tonight do it. It will probably distract you and derail your anxiety.
If this does not work, you can always excuse yourself and go home, but chances are this break the cycle of fear and symptoms.:)
Good luck, and let us know how you are doing soon!

Scardy cat..took your advice, and you were right! Just getting out got me distracted enough that I did not think,at least not to much, about
my anxiety. I then felt more confident that I got out. Everyone's advice was so helpful and got me through the day. Thanks so much!

Most of the time this works for me too! When I'm anxious, it's like pulling teeth to make myself go and do whatever it is that's happening, but I almost always feel better for it, and like you said, it's a confidence builder! Glad that you went and proved to yourself that you are not going to let this anxiety boss you around
Great job!
