Hi everyone! I have been off lexapro for about 5 or 6 months then just a few weeks ago my anxiety came back with a vengence! So I was put back on lex. 2 weeks ago i was on 10mg and was still having alot of anxiety in the mornings so they bumped it to 15mg today. I also take ativan .5mg to help with the side effects. I guess what I'm wondering is with the increase in lexapro does that increase the anxiety again for a little while? I know when I started on the 10mg. I had an increase in anxiety but within a week or week and a half it subsided some. Is this normal? Positive feedback would be awesome!! turn

Huskergirl, it is totally normal for anxiety to come back again with an increase in dosage. I just went back on zoloft for the fourth time and had the same thing happen after increasing from 50 mgs to 75 mgs. I've been on zoloft 3 times, and paxil once, in the past. Been dealing with GAD, PD, and Depression for 25 years now, since I was 14 years old. shocked

But yea, don't worry about it, just keep taking your ativan with it, and soon enough it will go away. :) ((hugs)) Fox

Thanks Fox for the reply! It helps to know...well i guess be reassured that this is normal and will pass! As you can see I am up very early again with the anxiety...seems like mornings are the hardest...and yes i do remember from last time i was on lexapro the mornings always were bad until the meds were tottally in my system. I just don't remember how long it took before! I really hate feeling like this in the morning...just shaky, nervous feeling..blah!!! If anyone else has some positive feedback for me i sure would love to hear it right now...when you feel like this it helps to have the reassurance that everything is going to be fine!!!

I know how you feel about the mornings being the hardest part of the day. I'm starting to settle in nicely again on the Zoloft, so i'm not having too many of those mornings anymore. I used to wake up with palpitations, shaking, anxiety, etc.... But it really has calmed down for me. You'll get there again, have faith. :) Good luck with everything, and I hope you're feeling better soon! ((hugs)) Fox

Fox how long have you been on the increased dose of zoloft? When did you notice the anxiety starting to subside?

Sunday will be two weeks at 75 mgs. I started on 25 mgs for a week, then I was at 50 mgs for about 6 weeks, because that's what always seemed to work for me in the past, but I had to up the dosage this time for some reason.

I actually JUST started noticing a decrease in my anxiety, so hopefully the 75 mgs will do the trick for me this time. We'll see, i'm going to stay on this for a few more weeks to see how I feel, if not better, the doc wants me to go up to 100.

Well I'm glad its working for you and hopefully it will keep doing what its suppose to do! My anxiety has just been terrible today...just feel jittery, nervous, kinda achy thru my chest and back..just all around yuck!! It will be such a relief when this new increase gets in my system I hate it when i feel like this! It just makes daily tasks hard to do! Its comforting talking to other people who understand what your going thru...so I'm sure I will be on quite often!! lol
