Ben,
Thank you so very much for a truly heartfelt post. I remember when you first started coming here also and look how far you have progressed. I am honored to be your friend and I thank you for all the help you have given to me over the years.
Many people with anxiety disorders also suffer from depression at some point - I am one that has GAD along with major depressive disorder so coming here for support as well as sharing with others was a wise choice for me. If you sitting out their feeling bad and looking for hope please do join HealingWell. We have tha anxiety forum as wells as the Depression forum.
So, yes, anxiety is treatable and no matter how many false dawns you've had so far, you don't have to "just live with it". The main mistake people make is they make it their daily aim to get better. We all want to be better today, not tomorrow. That is why we go from one treatment to another, desperate for something to make this awful thing go away. The truth is there is no overnight miracle cure.
There is much help available today and if you check out our Resources thread at the top of the page and read the 3rd post you will find some great ideas.
Support groups are a place for people to give and receive both emotional and practical support as well as to exchange information. People with health conditions, as well as their friends and families find support groups to be a valuable resource and get confirmation that their feelings are "normal", educate others, or just let off steam.
The members of this forum are wise and caring so please don't hesitate to jump on board so we can offer you the help and support we all share here.
I wish you peace,
Kitt
