Well, now i'm upset again......*Sigh*

I just got done speaking to my younger sister, who is 14 years younger than me, and she was telling me some very "unsettling" things, and now i'm stressed out again!

She had made comments about how she is having trouble in her relationship. So being the "big sister" I had a talk with her to see if I could help her in any way. She proceeded to tell me that she was pregnant a little while ago, but her boyfriend, and my step-mother (who she is living with now) made her have an abortion!

She is so sad and depressed about this, and she hates herself at this point. She said she really had no choice because her mother was going to kick her out, (she already has a 3 year old so that would not have been good) and her boyfriend felt that she was trying to "trap" him, and said she could move in with him, but not until April because his EX's mother is staying with him right now!!! WHAT!?!?

She then proceeded to tell me that he cheated on her and gave her Ghonorrhea, and then had the nerve to try and blame her for it, and to this day will not admit to it!!! She started telling me the whole story, and by her doing this, it made me have "flashbacks" of all the hurt I endured when it happened to me over a year ago. She was asking me questions about what happened to me, which brought on some very painful memories, but I was determined to help her through this, because she is my little sister. 

But now, i'm feeling it, and it's stressing me out! I don't even want to look at my husband right now! All of this because I was trying to be a good "big sister" and offer advice, and lend an ear to my baby sister. We have been doing extremely well in our relationship, and are closer now than ever before, but her bringing up these reminders just made me upset again.

SC, Ijust feel really bad because I want to help her so bad, but it is ending up hurting me at the same time. Maybe I should just deal with it until she feels better, I know EXACTLY how she's feeling with the hurt, and that makes me want to make it "all better" for her.

As for your situation, i'm going to assume that the same thing has happened to you, and say yes. That's what the psychologist told me my PTSD stemmed from, because I still, to this day, have flashbacks, dreams (more like nightmares), and a LOT of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and mental images.

And THAT'S where the OCD comes into play......The intrusive thoughts, and mental images, that will NOT go away! No matter what I try and do to pre-occupy myself, they are there, like a nagging headache! I'm still very insecure, and have major trust issues, and like you, I spend TOO MUCH time worrying about it happening again.

I also tend to avoid certain places or areas that remind me of that horrible time in my life.

I just want to be able to get on with my life, and be happy again, like I once was.... Here I am rambling again! LOL

But it does sound to me like you are leaning in that direction.....Now you know I can't say that you definately have it because i'm not a doctor, but it does sound very similar to my situation, feelings, and thoughts.....

I hope I have helped you in this case, for as many times as you have helped me, and been there to lend an ear and let me know you're there when i'm venting, it's the least I could do for you! LOL!

Thank you for the kind words Kitt! YOU are a very special person yourself, and MY world is a better place because you are in it! I don't know what I would've done, if not for you and SC! I was a total mess when I first joined Healing Well. You have both been so supporting and caring, to me, and everyone else on this board, and for that, I thank you both with all my heart.

I'm so sorry to hear that you have suffered such a loss. You are a very strong woman indeed! That's all I know! And for you to take time out to help others dealing with these disorders just proves that. Had I been in your shoes, I would've been admitted to a psych ward.

A very close and dear friend of mine also lost her son in a car accident. He was 22 years old at the time, and I saw how much pain she was in. I just couldn't bear it, and I pray to God I never have to be in that position, seeing as I only have 1 biological child, and that is my son.

Every day I pray to God to keep him safe, and I always make sure that when I see him, I give him kisses and hugs and tell him how much I love him, and ALWAYS tell him to be careful when he leaves. I guess when you have something like that hit so close to home, you realize what's REALLY important in life..He's 24 now, and he is still, to this day, my pride and joy!

To hear what brought on your PTSD makes my issues, that put me here, seem like nothing! I'd rather go through that a thousand times over, then to be in your shoes!  Many comforting hugs coming to you Kitt, and thanks for everything you put into this board! You are a true angel! Fox
