Hi All

Music plays a big part in my life and when ever I am feeling anxious or depressed I often listen to my favorite tracks. Feel free to post your links.

Here is one of mine it is from a band called the horrors who are a UK band. The style of this song reminds me of the bands of the 80's. Hopefully my link will work if not copy and paste into your search bar.

Wow Hibee! Right down my ally, I LOVE music, i'd rather listen to music than watch TV. It's very relaxing when you need it, or it can be extremely uplifting if you need that.
I have so many different things I listen to depending on the mood i'm in.

I agree music can be very uplifting. I spend a lot of time listening to music and hopefully this thread will take of so we can share and recommend music. It will also be good to take our minds of our anxiety. You have added some great links I love Adele to here 21 album is amazing.

How do you post a link so it turns blue?

I couldn't make a link out of this either...

but Weezer's Island in the Sun is the most relaxing song in the world, IMO!

I can just close my eyes and imagine myself on a tropical vacation, drink in hand...toes in the sand.:) cool cool cool The video is awesome...nerdy rock stars and baby animals!!! It is impossible not to feel a little less stressed after watching it!!

Those were all very cool B!

Had seen the G&R cover, but not the Adele done by Linkin Park! The best covers are when the songs are reinvented, yet still intact.

Oh and the horrors were very fresh, yet, like you say, takes you back to the 80's...kind of reminiscent of New Order.

I hope that more members will chime in...I will post some more when I have time...

I agree a cover is better when the band put their own twist on it. I love Linkin Park's version of rolling in the deep and good that it was recorded live as that really adds to the song for me. The Horrors have been round a couple of years now but their last album did well over here in the UK had you heard of them? I would say more Joy Division than New Order but see were you are coming from.

Fox I love The Cure they have to be one of the best bands ever. I saw them live at Glastonbury 95 and it was one of the highlights of the festival that year although the main reason I went was to see The Stone Roses but they had to cancel last minute and were replaced by Pulp who did a fantastic set.

Okay, I've got to go way back...I got into David Bowie in the 80's when I was a teenager...but this has got to be one of the best songs in song-writing-dom, imo:)

He needs some help with that wretched eye-shadow...but he is still the 'Thin White Duke' and undeniably hot

Fun Fact:  David's eyes are not different colors as many think...but one pupil is permanently fixed/dialated from a fight during his school days...(okay, okay I know, now I am just being a major geek;p)

Woot! I heard The Cure and David Bowie. Two of my faves.

I saw The Cure in 2008 at the Hollywood Bowl, and that was probably the greatest show I'd been to.

And you are correct, Cat! Bowie's eyes are from a fight in school. Lol. I'm also a geek, but mostly of the musical variety.

As soon as I can post a link (No YouTube at work), I'll share some good stuff.

For now, you can all go search my favorite song, if you like... Into the Mystic by Van Morrison. The Moondance album version--I don't care for the live ones. And usually I can appreciate good covers, but I've never liked a cover of this one. It's already perfection. :D

We played 'The Best of Van Morrison' at our wedding reception Reese! So romantic!:)

....hubby had to alter the lyrics to be 'Green-eyed girl' however:)

Looking forward to seeing your links Risa. SC David Bowie is an other legend he really brought his own style to the music scene and was a pioneer and hugely influential on other bands to follow.

Thought I would start the first debate of this thread. Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin were two of the for-runners of heavy metal. So the question is who was best???

The 'Mighty Zep' all the way IMO!

I saw Robert Plant in concert in the 90's...what a vocalist!!!

Oh and that reminds me...the album he did with Allison Krauss (Raising Sand) is AMAZING!

R.I.P Whitney Houston you will be missed by us all. She had a troubled life which I am sure members here will be able to relate to. She made brilliant music and the bodyguard on one of my favorite films. Here are two of my favorite Whitney tunes the second ofwhich takes me back to when I was kid.

If you haven't seen it already this is hilarious!!! (and a good song, love these guys!) It's reminiscent of Sabotage by the Beastie Boys...:)

Oh and BTW B...heard the Band of Skulls on the radio today.:)  The girl in the band reminds me of a young Chrissy Hynde!
