Help me figure out what could be going on with my husband?

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum but I am trying to find some people who have some understanding of anxiety and depression and it's affects to help me figure out what is going on with my husband. Here is a little background info on his situation:
Diagnosed with depression and some anxiety for about the past ten years gradually getting worse each year progressing to him not being able to hold a job and having to go on disability about two years ago. He has been seeing a psychiatrist for the last four years and therapist for the last two. The psychiatrist has had him on all different kinds of medicine you name it he's probably tried it... he was doing fairly decent on his medications that he had been on for a good while and then my husband said he went to bed one night and when he woke up the next morning he felt "bad". This happened the last week of january this year. Since that morning my husband has undergone a complete personality change, he is like the total opposite of himself, he says he feels like he is burning on the inside, he says he feels bad all over, he paces the floor constantly, he can't sit still, he stays agitated, his hands shake, he shuffles his feet when he walks, he gets a bug-eyed look in his eyes and he stares off into space a lot, he hardly wants to eat anything and has lost about 40 pounds, he hardly even speaks to anyone, he lays in bed most of the day because he says that is the only way he can get any bit of relief from the bad feeling, he says he doesn't know how much more he can take of this! My husband has lost any interest in the one thing that he loved to do more than anything in the world before... fishing. He says the feeling makes him not be able to go. The psychiatrist has changed his medicine around and has now said he doesn't know what else to give or do for him... now he is on Paxil, Klonipin (3 a day!),Trileptal, propanolol, perphe****ne, and also meds for high blood pressure, irritable bowel, and overactive bladder.
I am at my wits end! I am trying to get my husband some help and it seems no one is doing anything. The psychiatrist said take him to primary care doc and see if anything physical but when they here you have history of anxiety and depression they automatically want to just dismiss it as that and not want to listen to you.
I feel like I need to figure out what needs to be done to help my husband before he goes down so bad that he ends up hurting himself or he has something wrong with him that by the time anyone figures it out it's too late.
Anyone got any advice?

I too am sorry to hear this. I am sorry also for asking more questions...but has he had a full medical workup to eliminate anything physical going on?

Oh, I just read that your p-doc wants you to see your PCP...I would, if possible, see a new doctor, and not divulge the fact that he has a dx of anxiety...that way they can't just chalk it up to that.

I might also ask for a referral to a neurologist due to the personality changes and motor skill issues...just a thought.

Keep advocating for him...you are doing a great job, keep pushing the doctors until you find the answers. You are right...this is why we pay for the insurance!

If the regular PCP can't give you any information, then it may be time to get a referral to a specialist.
