Welcome ~ New Friend from all the members here... on HealingWell.com. You are not going crazy ! There are many things we experience that create shifts of perceived reality. I say perceived because our mind can't deal with all the input it gets from our senses. When my anxiety kicks into to high gear I feel like I am balancing on a roof and about to fall off so I start looking for reasons why I am stuck in anxiety which causes me more anxiety. It can be a vicious merry-go-round. Anxiety is driven by anticipation. Try to stay in the moment and take things one at a time. Don’t overwhelm yourself with "what if ?" thinking. Try not to fight the feelings that come along with anxiety. They will only pull you deeper into the dark state where they lie. Citalopram can take 6-8 weeks for the full therapeutic effect to kick in so be patient with your medication. Please know that you are not alone and I hope you will keep talking with us here in the forum. Kindly, Kitt

Hello and welcome!
Would it help you to know that you are not the first person to post about
this movie? There have been at least two, if not more mentions of it in the posts here...so you can rest assured that this movie, simply put, freaks people out!!
For those of us with anxiety, themes of unrealilty can be a stumbling block. Derealization and depersonalization are symptoms of anxiety that make us struggle with feeling 'real' or that life is actually happening like it should, because everything feels 'off' and not right. This is of course just our perception, and an effect of the anxiety that we have.
I am sorry that you are suffering so much at the moment. A couple of things that should help are breathing and relaxation exercises. See our Resource Guide (main page 2nd post) if you need some instruction...there are links posted. Practicing these daily will bring down your anxiety, thus lessening your symptoms.
Repeating a postive mantra is also helpful. The words that we say to ourselves have power...just as you were negatively influenced by the movie...you can be positively influenced by your own self-talk!
Repeat a phrase that you feel will help you, such as
"My life is real,
I am real, it is only my anxiety making me think otherwise."...
or whatever seems to fit for you.:)
Keep posting with us...it is great to talk with those who understand what you are going through. We are here to listen and support!
Talk to you soon,
Scaredy Cat

YES! CBT is really effective in relieving anxiety and panic. My experience was completely positive with it.
It does take time and effort, but it is totally worth it!
I am glad to hear that you feel a bit better by posting. Even though I have been here for several years...I still find relief and reassurance in knowing that here, I am not alone in my anxiety experience!
Keep posting!

Hey Lennon. Like SC said... A LOT of people have mentioned Inception on this board. I think it should win a Freak Out award from the Anxiety Disorders Film Academy. :) I'm sure that's a real academy (just don't look it up).
Haven't seen Inception yet (although I am curious now), but I try not to watch stuff that I'll find disturbing... I think that's just a good rule of thumb. Ever see the movie AI (Artificial Intelligence?) Man that movie depressed me! And it always seemed like it was going to end, but then it didn't and just continued to get stranger. Good movie though; just depressing if you haven't come from a nurturing and healthy, loving family. People with anxiety have very active and vivid imaginations as it is, don't really need anything more to embellish this already active center. Other people may need to go to the movies to get a thrill, but we A/Pers pretty much get it most of the time for free. :)
I notice with my own anxiety I sometimes just get so mad that I don't even care any more about
how I'm feeling, and as a result, I just naturally focus less on these feelings/symptoms.
Anyway, you aint crazy or alone.
Not So

RE movies, I have a hubby that is into anything sci-fi or monster-iffic ! If I just don't like the story line I go and read my book.
