Hi brittany.:)
This is a tough one, because even though your dose of Valium is low, and you're probably not physically dependent...it could be more of a psychological need for you...so even if you don't get any withdrawls as such, it could be hard mentally to take that leap of faith and let go of something that you have found helpful.
I would recommend that you replace coping mechanisms for any Rx that you are trying to stop. I use to suffer daily, fairly debilitating panic attacks. I decided to try therapy before trying the prescription that my doctor wrote for me. I actually found the therapy effective enough to not start the medication.
This is just my experience, and everyone is different...my point is just that for some, therapy can be sufficient to stop panic attacks, so this may be something to consider if you haven't already.
There are also good self-help options to take a look at. There are great books and DVD's available, as well as on line therapy and ideas in our Resource Guide.
The important thing is that you have something to work on, and to help you to not anticipate having relapse issues.:)
Best of luck, and post often and let us support you through this!
Talk to you soon,
S.C.
