Hello everyone. This post is partially inspired by my own experience plus the knowledge of the truism that holidays can be difficult for those of us with disorders. Especially if we have lost someone dear.
This time of year is really rough for me. I lost my mother at a young age, and she was CRAZY about Christmas. While the holiday fills me with cheer, there is also some sadness and inevitable anxiety that comes with it.
It is so frustrating to want to celebrate with the ones you love, and celebrate the memory of those no longer with us, only to be burden with anxiety. I find myself depressed, feeling sick, and paranoid. It is extraordinarily frustrating.
For all who are in the same boat, we are not alone. As hard as it can be, look to the bright lights and smiles of the season.
With love,
-J
