Hi, I have some problems to share here.
Last Saturday, I suffered a panic attack out of the blue while taking a bus home. I thought I would get better when I get home. However, when I was at home I felt sick and lie down on the bed for 2 hours. At night, I woke up at 5am to a very terrible panic attack and went to the ER.
I thought it was a heart attack. They took ECK and told me I'm fine. I mentioned that my family doctor heard heart murmur around two months ago...she scheduled a cardiologist for me on late April. I went home feeling better.
However, when I was at home, I felt unwell again. I kept thinking it must be my heart and I keep finding what's the trigger for my panic attack. I start to lose sleep and I skipped work for the next day. I was going to the doctor when I felt intense anxiety and returned home again. I went to my mental health hospital the following day and they prescribed me some med (Xanax and something else). However I took for a day and stopped. I took Paxil before and it gave me horrible side effects. I'm worried these med will give me side effects too.
It's been going on for a week now. I noticed I'm worse in the morning and at night. In the afternoon I'm
quite ok. When I wake up in the morning, I will feel a sense of panic and have diarrhea. At night, when I try to sleep, I will get that sense of panic again. It's like every time when I'm about
to sleep, the sense of panic will keep me awake. I will sleep for 1-2 hours before waking up in panic and spend a long time falling asleep again.
Throughout this, I will get sweaty palms and feet when I feel anxiety. I also have poor appetite as my stomach would get bloated after I eat. Two days ago i start feeling weakness and aching in my left arm. I have quite a few panic attacks throughout the week and if I'm not panicking, I'm thinking that there must be something wrong with my heart, stomach (have acid reflux) etc. I worry that I have a serious condition causing my panic attacks and I'd die.
Can somebody tell me if I should go to a private cardiologist to get the tests done? I have an appointment with a psychologist on 7 Feb. Sorry for my ranting.
