One of the great ironies of the SSRI drug class...
...the med prescribed to treat anxiety, actually often increases it upon the initial start up.
I can take anywhere from 6-10 (some people less, some more) weeks for the medication to build up, level off...and of course for your body to become accustomed to it, and start getting the benefits that are desired.
Many people will try one SSRI, feel worse in the beginning, and go off immediately. They may bounce around from one Rx to another, and not find the results that they need and seek.
If your s/e's are tolerable, it is recommended that you stick it out...and you see if you start to feel better, and the med starts to work for you.
Please know that this is a common experience...and I am sure that you will hear from others soon, who can share their actual stories and results.
You can certainly also ask your doctor and/or pharmacist what you should and should not be expectin during this time.
I hope that it works out for you, and that you find the relief that you need a.s.a.p!!
Keep us posted, okay?
