Wow, you are one strong person sylknmyst! My suggestion would be calling your insurance company and explaining your situation and that you need a Pdoc that Specializes in rare medical issues, they are medical doctors after all. You also may be able to get your insurance to pay for alternative docs and treatments if they tell you absolutely no SSRI's. That doesn't apply to the CBT, just the meds and an alt. doc. is what you need for that. Just a thought, it can't hurt to ask ;). Keep in Touch.

Okay...so I had my Dr.'s appointment today, this is my PCP and I got the results back for the Porphyria...drum roll please...I DO NOT HAVE PORPHYRIA!!! HOORAY! I was so happy I didn't have it that I actually cried.

Ahem. Okay, with that being said, I told my PCP that I absolutely did NOT like the new PDOC. I told her what he did and she said "not good, he should have helped you"! She said we will find me a new PDOC, but in the meantime she wants me to start on Viibryd 10 mg/day for a week. She also switched my Ativan to Xanax as the Ativan was having no effect whatsoever. Phew. Just took a Xanax and waiting for it to kick in. My husband told me to take 2! lol He meant it jokingly though.

I go back next Thursday to see her and to see how I am doing on the Viibryd. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the Viibryd works for me and that it will kick in a bit after a few days. Ugh, I always hate starting a new medicine, but doing it nonetheless. Can't possibly feel any worse than I do right now! I still have to take it easy since I had the Rhabdo, but that's okay! i wish I could do more around the house, inside and out, but I will get there in time.

Time to take the horse by the reigns!!!

Soooooo, has anyone taken Viibryd and if so do you like/dislike it??

Try not to 'future trip' on the Viibryd question for a day or so...

My anxiety levels were high on the Ativan, but my Dr. switched me to Xanax and I have had basically a non stop panic attack since last night...gosh, I can't catch a break...

My lower back muscles are so tense from the panic attacks and I can't ever recall having a physical symptom like this.

I think I need to start writing my book and keep occupied. Thank goodness the weather is warm because when it is cold, I feel so much worse.

Sorry, my mind and thoughts are all over the place right now.

I find the Xanax gets me in a good headspace when I need it. I like to challange my anxiety, I know that's sometimes un-bearable but maybe baby steps. How much Xanax did you take? I find if its .25mg its not enough for me. I need about .5mg and it does the trick. Key the Xanax ride for 30 minutes to an hour. It will kick down your central nervous system and should do exactly the opposite of panic attack. If you have no results after 1 hour I recommend seeing.if another .25ng might take the edge off. Just don't chase the relief too fast, that's how people get addicted to benzos.

in the end the medication is a temporary thing to alleviate your symptoms. I find my CBT log books especially helpful.

And if you see still panicked after the Xanax, force yourself into a freezing cold shower and stand in it for 20 mins. It knocks me.back yo reality quickly.

Ah, if only the Xanax would knock me out, I would be grateful. I really think that since my body is so keyed up and I am having such bad panic attacks, it barely even helps.

I didn't like my PDoc, but I am going back to him on Wednesday...hopefully he will give me something that will actually help.

Yes I understand, thats why I weaned myself off and now just cary them in case. I think a large part of
the problem we face using xanax and ativan is the street popularity with these drugs, that being said I
think it's small of a Dr. to treat us like we can't be trusted, I kinda resent that. You seem like someone
who knows their own system well enough to regulate them witout the preconcieved judgment, I may have
already said so but most women I know get better results from the ativan. I wish you luck with the Dr.
