Celexa dosage???

Hey everyone, hope u all had a decent weekend. I was just wondering if anyone else is taking Celexa and what dose u are taking?
I was prescribed 20mg. The pharmicist told me to start at 10mg the first week and then take the 20mg the following. I have already seen improvements with the 10mg including a decline in anxiety attacks. I'm wondering if I should just stay on the 10mg and not increase. Has anyone else done that???

I took 40mg Celexa and it changed my life. If 10mg is doing fine for you, talk to your doctor about staying at that dose. But it could just be working its way through your system, and that initial effect will wear off at a low dose. I would slowly work up to 20mg honestly - but it's best to talk to your doc!

i'm also on celexa, but i'm only taking 10 mg once a day. it's not working as well as i'd like. i'm glad to hear that you're feeling better from using it. one thing that my doctor told me about that medication is that it can take up to 6 weeks for it to be working at its maximum potential in your body. i keep telling myself that when i have bad days and want to blame the meds.
i would say that the only real way to get an answer to this is to talk to your doctor. they should at least be aware of exactly what you're taking for the future.

I agree with everyone else - talk to your doctor. It might be helpful to take notes of when/if you have anxiety issues and how you feel throughout the day. You and your doctor will be able to work out the best dosages for you.

When I was on Celexa, my dosage varied between 10 mg and 40 mg depending on my needs at the time. When I was taking too much, I knew it. Still, I always talked to my doctor before I changed.

My husband increased from 20 mg to 40 mg on Saturday.

I'm glad to hear that your dr is easing you into it, though. It threw me for a loop when I first started taking it. My hubby didn't have any issues. I guess it's just different for different people.

How long before you're supposed to increase the dosage? Is there any way you can see or call your dr before then? :)

What everyone else said, one week is not long enough to make a dosage decision and it does take 6 weeks for the medication to stabilize in your system and 20mg isn't that high a dose. New meds always come with the anxiety circle, "do i really need it, what if it doesn't help?, what if I take to much? what if I get addicted?, what if my doctor thinks I'm addicted?" The good news is that as long as your that worried about it the chances of getting addicted are nil. :)

Ty everyone!!! I will be starting my 20mg tonight. I do know that it will take awhile to get to a therapeutic level. I also know I need to keep in contact with my doc. Thank you
